Why Do We Bother?

I listened to the President’s inaugural address. It was a very good speech and it touted the virtues of freedom. The speech was full of hope for nations whose leaders oppress them and treat them as property. Yet, we have people in this country who say the speech was some kind of policy change and insist the United States will start invading other countries. I did not hear that in the speech. I heard a message of hope but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

The funny thing is, the left is unhappy that we would want freedom for others. They must think the US has the market cornered and no one else deserves it. They will decry the fact that this nation was once full of slave owners (a practice I personally find abhorable) yet they are comfortable with others in the world living in servitude. The folks around this country who do not like the President are narrow sighted in their views. It is OK to disagree but why make everything bad? It is a bit of stupidity to keep living as if the world is about to end. The Republicans did not cave in and resort to this when Clinton won. We gathered our resources and made a stronger push. The dems can not seem to get that part of life together.

This link is to an article where Bush the elder explains what the speech is about. He had to do that because the left is incapable of understanding these things. It must be the public schooling (indoctrination) they went through.

I think the people out there who are trying to tear this republic apart should reevaluate their lives. They obviously have issues.

UPDATE:
Over at Timm’s Shovel Timm has an intersting take on the inauguration. He wonders if it was a swearing in or a swearing at. He cites the soon to be former MSM’s coverage of all the protesters. I recommend you go there and read his take on things. If you want to feel better you can grip the shovel and give it a go-Whap!

Been Out for a While

Unfortunately, I have not been on for a few days. A computer crash and internet outage combined with a snowstorm have made life interesting over the past few days. I posted over at tryontheglasses.

It is an article about Michael Moore’s body guard being arrested in New York for carrying a handgun. This from the guy who in his movie “Bowling for Columbine” criticizes what he calls America’s “culture of fear” and its obsession with guns.

The Three Stooges, (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk)

Yesterday, I wrote about Boxer, Kerry, and Kennedy. A very astute friend, LR, informed me that I had written about the Three Stooges of politics. I think she is on to something but the present three have to be more pathetic than the original. Moe, Larry, and Curley meant to act stupid. This is how they made a living.

These three, (Boxer, Kennedy, Kerry) are just naturally moronic. The sad thing is, we pay them to take sane decisions. I guess when you are a stooge, stupidity just comes naturally.

Somebody Should knockout the Boxer

First we had Barbara Boxer trying to subvert the electoral vote count in the Congress. Now we have her grilling Condi Rice as if she just robbed a bank. Boxer called Rice a liar, though not so bluntly (shades of Kerry and “I never used that word”), on a number of occasions prompting Rice to repeatedly asked the senator not to question her truthfulness.

Boxer is under some impression that the ONLY reason we went into Iraq was WMD. Of course this is not the truth and the resolution that Boxer voted for contains a number of reasons that we needed to go in and TCB. By Boxer’s own admission, she did not read the resolution. She relied on others who read it to tell her what it contained. I would think that for something this important she would read the damned thing. Dr. Rice could have just told Boxer she was unaware of the problems to which she (Boxer) keeps referring because she did not read the reports. That would have gone over like a pregnant pole vaulter.

Tip from Johnathan Rothenberg at B4B. This is how the President’s speech at the start of the war began:

“My fellow citizens, at this hour, American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger…”

Which part of disarm Iraq, to FREE ITS PEOPLE… is Boxer having trouble with.

I have a suggestion for Boxer (stup doggy-dog ). From now on read things before you question what others have done. You might actually keep yourself from looking stupid, though I doubt that to be the case. Perhaps we can get Boxer a job walking the senile Ted Kennedy around so he can not hurt himself or others. It will also keep her out of the Senate which has to make the rest of society a safer place.

You can read the resolution to go to war here. See how many reasons to go you can find. I’ll bet it’s more than WMD.
