Condi Rice on the Hot Seat

I posted some information about Dr. Rice’s confirmation hearing over at tryontheglasses. Trot on over there and read how Dr. Rice could have run a spear through John Kerry’s heart.

Read about the hearing here.

Religion of Peace at it Again

Well, we discussed the religion of peace in the past. It has been rammed down our throats that Islam is a religion of peace and that the insurgents (read terrorists) are just a radical faction. We have been told that our actions are responsible for this uprising and killing that has taken place. Hogwash!

The insurgents have taken a Catholic archbishop hostage. You can make all the claims you want about their reactions being about the way we treat them but you need to really reach out to come up with a valid reason these monstors took a religious man hostage. If these people were truly peaceful you would expect them to have left another holy man alone. Add this to the Imam’s instructions to kill and I think we have the answer about this peaceful BS.

Interestingly, the Vatican, who was against the war and wanted us to find a better way to deal with these troubled people is calling the abduction an act of terrorism. Imagine that. Now let this be a lesson to you boys and girls, the terrorists took a peaceful man hostage. This should put an end to that bunk about peace begets peace. This and other tripe do not match up to reality. Of course it is possible they will release him without harming him. That still does not mean they worked a peaceful solution. Peaceful religions do not abduct members of other religions.

The Vatican has no choice but to negotiate. They don’t have an Army. If they did I would not be surprised if Pope John Paul ordered them into battle to save the archbishop.

You can read the story here and the Vatican reaction here.

I Guess It’s Not a Secret Anymore

The thing that makes us a great country are the freedoms we enjoy. Whether it is freedom of speech, religion, or press. Well, to most of us they are included. To the left there is freedom of religion for everyone except Christians.

Anyway, a report was just released by Seymour Hersh who is the guy responsible for exposing the extent of the abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib. His report is “US Conducting Secret Missions inside Iran”. Perhaps he should have added the line”…Not Anymore!” Now that Hersh reported the information it is no longer a secret. The whole world knows now and if this is true, a whole lot of people’s lives just got placed in danger. I am sure this Hersh character doesn’t care because he will be in the relative safety of his home. The guys out there conducting secret mission to keep us safe will be in danger.

What value does this add? Is anyone any better off now that we know it? With the prisoner abuse you can see that some problems were exposed and taken care of. Some good came of the story. What good will this new revelation serve? It seems to me this guy got his award for writing about Abu Ghraib and decided he needed a few more awards.

I would never suggest that we should not exercise our freedoms. That would be counter to what makes us great. What most people don’t understand though is that with these freedoms come responsibility. We can not let out information that might damage national security under the freedom banner. This is one thing that drives me nuts.

I wonder, suppose this Hersh guy pulled a Rushdie and ticked off the Arab world and they put out a death threat on him. He decides to go into hiding to keep from getting beheaded by some radical (not that they really exist). The postal carrier knows where he is living and knows he is living there secretly. Would it be right for the postal worker to publish an article in the paper entitled, “Writer Hersh Living in Secret at 123 Main Street, Fears for Life.” It is well within the postal carrier’s right to free speech, but should he do it? I would think most people would think it only right to just keep quiet about it.

Hersh couldn’t do that. He had to let the cat out of the bag though it served no useful purpose. Read it here.

Jesse Jackson Losing Clout

Well, it looks like the era of extortion by Jessie Jackson and his Rainbow Coalition of thugs is falling upon hard times. NewsMax is reporting that the New York Stock Exchange refused to allow Jackson to hold his annual Wall Street fund raising event and is rebuffing Jackson’s annual demand for $100,000.

In the past, big businesses came out in droves for Jackson’s minority business outreach. This was especially true during the Clinton years which begs the question: Given the sexual escapades of Jackson and Clinton, shouldn’t they have called it a “FUN RAISING” event? This practice changed rapidly when a Jackson supporter inside the exchange stepped down earlier this month.

In 1998, the debut year of the Project, Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin, Securities and Exchange Chairman Arthur Levitt and Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, along with Donald Trump, showed up to support Jackson’s so-called “diversity agenda.”
But as Investor’s Business Daily noted earlier this week, with Jackson friend Richard Grasso no longer running the Big Board, the Wall Street Project gravy train has chugged to a halt.

It would appear as if the big wigs at the NYSE have decided that enough is enough. Their actions will make it a bit more difficult for Jackson to hold businesses hostage. If he keeps losing targets to exploit, he might have to actually get a real job and start paying taxes….

The actions of the NYSE also put individual companies on notice. The actions will call into question why a responsible business would hand out its money so recklessly.

“The NYSE cutoff is a dramatic step that puts the individual companies that bankroll Jackson on the spot,” noted Peter Flaherty, president of the National Legal and Policy Center, in comments to CNSNews.com.

“It is a lot harder for the Verizons and PepsiCos to argue that there’s nothing wrong with supporting Jackson’s groups.”

Bill O’Reilly had this nailed on his show and he expands on it in his book The No Spin Zone. Jackson has been using that race card for a long time to extort money from American Businesses. Perhaps now they have learned that they do not need to make Jackson wealthy at the expense of thier bottom lines.
