About That Job Creation
by Big Dog on Feb 25, 2010 at 20:30 Posted in Political 10 Comments
Looks like the 95,000 jobs a month the administration is predicting hit a little snag:
The number of Americans filing for initial unemployment insurance surged to just below the 500,000 level last week, and have climbed more than 12% over the past two weeks, the government said Thursday. Money.CNN
Obama and his mouthpieces keep saying they “saved” or created millions of jobs.
The only thing I can figure is that they saved or created them in states 51 through 57…
Then again, if the White House can create ZIP codes and Congressional Districts out of thin air then it can certainly create jobs numbers the same way.

These Kids Will Know It For Real, Soon Enough
by Big Dog on Feb 25, 2010 at 18:19 Posted in Political Leave a comment
A group of kids in Florida had an exercise where they pretended to live in a communist country in commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It sounds like a great exercise to get the kids involved and to teach them:
“I’m normally a nice person, but I have to be really firm with these people,” Stephany said. “They must come in, sit down and write this line on paper, front and back.”
The line: “I will serve the glorious East German state better.”
The students copied it repeatedly after watching a propaganda film depicting the evils of Western culture.
~snip~
“This was a project of the history club, and their idea was that students should really have an idea of what it was like to live in a communist state,” said social studies teacher Patricia Johnston, who helped organize the project and served as the lead “comrade.” Herald Tribune
This kind of instruction is very innovative and allows students to experience rather than absorb through reading and verbal instruction.
Unfortunately, the way this country is going these kids might very well find out what life in a communist country is really like.
At least they will be prepared.

God Must Not Have Listened To Biden
by Big Dog on Feb 25, 2010 at 05:07 Posted in Political 31 Comments
This past year has been a tough one for Democrats. They had majorities in both chambers of Congress that were big enough not to need one Republican vote and they could not pass signature items. They have become frustrated with the lack of progress on their Socialization plan so they want to do a few things to give them the upper hand. They want to eliminate the filibuster and they want to invoke reconciliation, a budgetary procedure, in order to pass their the health care takeover bill.
When the Republicans were in charge, they too became frustrated with the Democrats for using the same procedures that they [Republicans] now employ. The Republicans were going to use the nuclear or Constitutional option to allow a simple majority to pass judicial nominees.
The left went nuts over this and talked about how the filibuster was important and how the Founders knew what they were doing and how Republicans in the Senate did not do what Senators throughout history have done [say no to a power hungry president]. Joe Biden said it all when he stated:
I pray God when the Democrats take back control we don’t make the kind of naked power grab you are doing.
God must have decided not to weigh in on Biden’s prayer because the Democrats are involved in the very kind of “naked power grab” Biden lamented over.
Go view the video compilation of Democrats [Breitbart TV] who weighed in on the issue back when they were the minority party and see how their attitudes differ from what they want to do today.
The word hypocrite comes to mind but decide for yourself.
Take particular note of then Senator Barack Obama. In fact, Obama, Clinton, Biden, and Dodd all had something to say and each ran for the presidency…

Oh To Work For Obama
by Big Dog on Feb 24, 2010 at 22:32 Posted in Political 2 Comments
Barack Obama and his government own General Motors (or as GM now means, Government Motors). It must be nice to work for Obama:
After resigning as president and CEO of General Motors in December, Fritz Henderson might have gone into hiding or decided to sit out the harsh Michigan winter on a Florida beach.
Instead, here he is popping up again, this time as a consultant to GM on international operations at the very fancy fee of $59,090 a month for 20 hours of work a month. That works out to almost $3,000 an hour for a CEO who was ousted after just eight months on the job. Money.CNN
3000 dollars an hour is good work if you can get it. And where can I get a job where I get that kind of money and only have to work for 20 hours a month.
Yep, the government took over GM. Does anyone actually think it will make money? Not when it does stuff like this.
But the government is doing a good job bashing Toyota in order to help out GM. Talk about a conflict of interest…

Best Possible Health Care Is In The US
by Big Dog on Feb 24, 2010 at 05:16 Posted in Political 16 Comments
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams left Canada and came to the US for heart surgery after he was told by his Canadian doctors that the heart procedure he needed would require them to break some of the bones in his chest. He consulted with a doctor in the US and decided to have the surgery in Miami where the doctors cut through the side of his chest and did not have to break any of his bones.
Williams has had to answer questions as to why he came to the US when his country offers universal health care. Williams responded that it was his heart and his choice and lamented that if he had the surgery in Canada he would have to handle claims that he got bumped to the head of the line. He put it simply when he said:
I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics.
I think this statement says it all. Despite the universal health care in Canada which has been touted as an example for America to follow, this politician decided that the US system, even with its flaws, provided the best health care possible.
We need reform but not the kind Washington DC and Obama are pushing. We need to keep this country the place where people want to come for the best care possible and not some second rate place where the elderly die because they are not deemed worthy of treatment and government employees make decisions that should be between patients and their doctors.
