"Ensuring that they have food, water, some medical things," Sergeant McMackin said in one of the National Guard vehicles as he conducted door to door welfare checks near Marion, KY.

This Marion native says there's only one other natural disaster he can compare to this ice storm.

"I went down to Hurricane Katrina, and that is the best way I can explain it," Sergeant McMackin said, although he believes the people here are better prepared to live without electricity.

There were plenty of other problems beside power outages in Louisiana. Tell me this, has over half of the police force of any of these Kentucky towns deserted? How many of the hospitals are inoperable?

Now, I'm sure there is no looting or theft of any kind going on because the populations affected are predominantly Caucasian (or so say the race baiters on this board), but what about insurance fraud? You know, like those wonderful republican state and local officials did in Mississippi. They ran a "smooth" operation in a time of crisis (or so says Dog), but damned if they wudn't gettin a lil' extra on the side for it!

Who will lead this "revolution", Rummie? Or will Rush The Doper Limbaugh fight through the pain of his a$$ cyst and march the (r)epuke revolutionaries to Washington?

Have you dusted off the ol' musket, Doggie? Time to take back America. Put down the Turner Diaries and get your a$$ out on the battlefield!

My point was not about Michelle Malkin, so call her what you will and it wasn't about the letter writer other than the part pertaining to the electrical workers saying this power grid outage is worse than Katrina and they apparently were there. So try and name call and deflect all you will--whatever.

Victoria- Michelle Malkin is just a pretty face. You can do better. Please, gimme some of Bill Kristol's best B.S. Malkin is a hack.

Question: Why is the writer on the link you sent calling Mitch McConnell? To whine about the Fed-er-al Gubment's poor response? Why isn't he writing a state official? He claims he ain't cryin' the blues to FEMA, but what does he want to ask McConnell? About shady campaign contributions?

Victoria- It's cool. I would never say that it's is all Bush's fault. MUCH of the blame goes to Rumsfeld and Cheney. And to those weak kneed Dems who caved into the demands of Great Emporer Bush and Co.

Well, if I just say something back like your full of it when you say it is all Bush's fault, your going to say where do you get your facts from and then proceed to call me some kind of name also.

Victoria is, hands down, the cut and paste queen of this board. She is the champion, my friends.

Dog- Where have Scottie and Swines gone? THEY were once your best commenters.

The only wasted breath is the breath taken by liberals...

How did Bush fail? We have been through this before but you have absolutely no experience in emergencies, you do not work with FEMA and you don't understand its mission and I doubt you know or understand the New Orleans emergency plan.

How can you possibly say what was or was not a failure when you don't know what you are talking about? You can say a system failed or did not work as well as you liked but you don't have a clue as to whom is in charge.

The only thing you know is the echo chamber of the left said Bush screwed up and killed people and you ran with it. You liberals keep discussing the problems in NO and how very different it was.

It was different for the rescuers as well. They had to run tens of thousands of dangerous missions to rescue people who refused to leave or were not evacuated. The ones FAILED BY THEIR GOVERNOR AND MAYOR.

There was a lot of rescuing that took place before the other stuff could proceed.

Protection and preservation of life is first.

All else is second.

Victoria, you described it well. I know some of the folks who were there as part of the incident command. The locals screwed the pooch.
