Obama Says He Lost Touch With The People

Fresh off his third stinging defeat in as many tries, Barack Obama was licking his wounds and working on various evil plans to inflict his health care takeover on us when he took time out of his busy day to give an interview to George Stephanopoulos when he said that he had lost touch with the American people:

“If there’s one thing that I regret this year is that we were so busy just getting stuff done and dealing with the immediate crises that were in front of us that I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people about what their core values are and why we have to make sure those institutions are matching up with those values,” Obama told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview at the White House. ABC News

There was no immediate crises, only those that were trumped up because the Democrats cannot let a crisis go to waste. Obama was so busy getting stuff done that he could not talk to us. I feel like he was so busy doing stuff TO us but that is another story.

This is Barack Obama trying to rationalize his failure. His stimulus has been a failure, his cap and trade is on the back burner and will likely not reappear after the fraud in the global warming community and the vote in Massachusetts, and his health care legislation is in serious jeopardy after the Brown win. The legislation was always a loser considering that they had to chop it up and bribe people to vote for it.

Obama is saying to us, you know if I would have spoken to you in my elegant voice while reading carefully crafted words from a teleprompter you would have been mesmerized like you were during the campaign and you would have done anything I asked. Obama is showing us how humble he is by admitting that he failed us and that he will do better. He knows if he had just spoken to us we would not be upset with his health care takeover and he would still have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate.

If only he had talked.

Let’s get real. Since when is this guy NOT talking. I have seen him on TV just about every day since he was elected. He is on TV even when he is on vacation and he is talking all the time. Here are a few facts about Mr. I lost touch with you:

During his first year Barack Obama had:

  • 411 speeches, comments and remarks
52 of them were “addresses or statements specifically on his health care proposals” [emphasis mine]
  • 42 News Conferences including 4 in Prime Time
  • 158 Interviews
  • 23 Town Hall meetings

Barack Obama had over 600 encounters in one form or another in his first year in office. This is an average encounter of 1.6 times each day for the entire year. This does not include the endless replays of these encounters on the news shows where people were able to see him over and over again. To top it off he talked about health care an average of once a week.

[note]My fear is that Obama really believes he did not speak to us enough and will put himself out there even more in his second year. He was overexposed in his first year and if he really believes he needs more exposure then they will have to get him his own network. Oh wait, he has one, MSNBC.[/note]

Make no mistake about it, Obama was out there more than enough and the people heard him more than enough. He did not lose touch with us because he was talking to us an average of 1.6 times each and every day. The reality is that Americans saw him too much and he began to wear on us. The more he talked and the more his henchmen in Congress did their thing the more we became disgusted. America got a good look at Obama in his first year due to his overexposure and we did not like what we saw.

He can spin it however he wants but Americans did not like what they saw and reacted to knock the emperor down a peg or two.

Obama can claim that he lost touch with us but as I have shown, this is not true.

The only thing he lost touch with is traditional American values.

Assuming he had any to begin with.

“There was no immediate crises, only those that were trumped up because the Democrats cannot let a crisis go to waste.”

Right, don’t you hate it when the Democrats pretend there’s some kind of global economic crisis that borders on a depression that threatens our entire way of life and the world markets? Shucks, who do these liberals think they are telling lies like that and then daring to implement policy to correct this made up crisis of theirs?

We need Republicans in office right now. Imagine what would have happened had the Republicans tried that same thing. They could have used the fear and the uncertainty surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks to ram through legislation that eroded our civil liberties or to justify invading a country like Iraq that would have surely cost us over $700 billion dollars of tax money we can’t afford. They didn’t do that though, did they? Oh, they did? Nevermind…

    • Buck says:

Well it is good to see someone at this site calling this big chihuahua on his crap. I guess he thinks we all must agree with him, just like in his faux news fantasy world. Wake up republicans. You are just as responsible for this mess as dems.
Its people like this “big dog” who keep dividing this country with their ideals and useless websites. Go back to your basement.

      • Big Dog says:

Yeah Buck, people like me are dividers. Certainly not folks like you and the morons who suffered BDS for 8 years who refused to support Bush and divided this country or maybe like Obama who is divisive.

        Yeah, it is on me.

  2. dprosenthal says:

As usual, Mr.O has it backwards. The problem isn’t that he lost touch with the American people because he didn’t speak to us enough, the real problem is that he didn’t LISTEN!
The arrogance of the DC unholy trinity is mind boggling. It obviously isn’t that they could possibly have been wrong, its that we’re all so stupid that we simply couldn’t understand what they tried to tell us.
Watch carefully as the President moves to ‘dumb down’ his future speeches so that we will be able to see and accept the true depth and brilliance of each new plan.

  3. Darrel says:

“Obama Says He Lost Touch With The People”

    DAR
    No he didn’t.

Again Bigd starts with some reporter’s made up headline, and then spins some yarn out of it. Best to build on a premise that is *actually true.*

    • Big Dog says:

There is no yarn spin. What Obama says is the definition of losing touch. If you say I am going to the store” and I say Darrel says he is going shopping then it is correct unless I say I was quoting you.

Instead, the president said the American people ended up with a “feeling of remoteness and detachment” from the policymakers in Washington who are making big decisions.

Remoteness and detachment = losing touch.

      Definition:
      lose touch

Fail to keep in contact or communication

I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people

Speaking directly to is to communicate.

Therefore Obama said that he lost touch. It is not a quote, the words he used are defined as losing touch.

I did not quote him as saying those words.

      It is actually TRUE.

    • Darrel says:

Bigd: “Therefore Obama said that he lost touch.”>>

      DAR
      No he didn’t.

Bigd: It is not a quote,>>

      DAR
Right, you can’t quote it because he didn’t say it. When you say, as you do above: “Obama Says He Lost Touch With The People,” you are saying something inaccurate, spinning.

      Bigd: “It is actually TRUE.”

      DAR
      No, it is actually FALSE.

Notice how the ABC heading has been changed. Apparently others noticed too.

Try this experiment. Imagine Bush had said:

“I think, you know, what [the American people] ended up seeing is this feeling of remoteness and detachment where there’s these technocrats up here making decisions. Maybe some of them are good, maybe some of them aren’t, but do they really get us and what we’re going through?”

I could see him saying that. Lot’s of politicians would. Now, would it be fair to construe from this, and put it in a headline:

“Bush says he has lost touch with the American people”

No. It wouldn’t be fair. That huge spin. That’s not what he said and it’s not a remotely fair interpretation of what he said (if he had said it, which of course, no politician ever would).

A politician “losing touch with the people” is full of all sorts of bad bad stuff that everyone understands. It’s not remotely what Obama said, or would ever say. No politician would. I was quite sure your title was inaccurate before I checked.

  4. Blake says:

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww- I don’t want O’bamma touching me- you I don’t know where he’s been- but if it was with Reid and Pelosi, there’s probably at least some herpes involved.
    With Clinton, who knows?

  5. victoria says:

“My fear is that Obama really believes he did not speak to us enough and will put himself out there even more in his second year.”

Boy, you got that right. Every time he comes on I have to turn the channel and now it will probably be even more.

  6. Big Dog says:

Gee Buck, perhaps if you took the time to look around you can see that I have enough blame for both parties.

If I go to the basement it will be the one I own. While you are in yours have your mom bring you some more kool aid.

  7. Lost Touch? He never was in touch. He may have baffled with bull**** and sleight of hand but he was never in touch with anything other than his close circle of scum.

  8. Big Dog says:

As shown he did “remotely” say it. The definition of lost touch is what he said happened.

    • Darrel says:

Bigd: “As shown he did “remotely” say it.”>>

      DAR
Another clue is that at no time in the comment does Obama, in any way, even refer to himself.
