Natural gas is also much more abundant and we could be using it.

This can be a band aid because it will allow us time to develop alternative sources of energy like some of the promising bio fuels. However, we cannot stop using one without a suitable replacement.

Alaska has a lot of oil outside of ANWR and we could really hit the mother lode there.

I’ll tell you what, Doggie. I’m in a giving mood so I’ll spot you this one- say we keep all that new oil for OURSELVES. I’d be down with that and so would Pat Buchannon. That buys us about 4 years- using CURRENT U.S. consumption figures- they will only rise over time. 30 billion/20.73 million= 1447.18 days.

Either way, it’s not a “plan”. It’s a band-aid.

Second, we can have oil in a year. There are oil platforms set up over known oil fields off the coast of California and they can be producing oil in a YEAR. OPEC states that you can produce oil from 3-10 years from exploration to production depending on where the platforms will be placed (how deep the water is). We already know where the oil is so we do not need to explore.

The 10 year time you keep hearing about is a liberal talking point that is incorrect and deliberately misleading because Democrats do not want to drill. However, let us assume it takes 10 years. If we start now then in 10 years we have oil and we are not sitting around saying let’s drill, no we can’t it will take 10 years.

The 10 years is the same argument they used to kill drilling in ANWR during Clinton’s administration. If we had started then we would have oil NOW. It is called forward thinking.

BTW, if it takes 10 years it takes 9 to get all the paperwork and 1 to get oil.

IT WILL NOT TAKE TEN YEARS STUDENT.

Ahhh, yes. I’d forgotten you sometimes give us such “simple” economics lessons. Tell me Professor Friedman, when will the price go down? How much oil we talkin’, cowboy? Say it takes I don’t know, 10 years before we see any of this oil. How much more oil will China and India be using at that point? I’m gonna go ahead and guess more than we gain from this next great oil discovery I keep hearing about. If that’s the case, how are prices going to go down? Because we show those rascals the speculators that we’re serious about our energy policies? Keep dreaming, Dog.
