NOW’s Demands Present Some Problems

The National Organization of Women is making a few demands that should have long reaching repercussions with regard to how federal money is doled out. NOW has filed a suit contending that the Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Initiative violates Title IX because it is a program that pays money for education to men. NOW says that this is sex discrimination and needs to stop. I guess they have a point and this kind of thing needs to stop all over so as soon as possible the government needs to end this discrimination as well as a few others.

The Women’s, Infant, and Children (WIC) program is a federal program that provides money to low income women so they can eat and can feed their children. The mission of WIC is:

WIC provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children who are found to be at nutritional risk. WIC

This is obviously a discriminatory program and it needs to either stop or it needs to include low income men who fathered children to apply and receive money to eat. Men need to be nutritionally sound too.

Another program that needs to cease is one that deals with sexual discrimination as well as racial discrimination and that is the minority business program. Federal agencies are required to contract with minority and woman owned businesses before they can contract with other businesses. The supply system is set up to buy from women and minority owned businesses first. This is discrimination and should not be allowed to continue. Men who own businesses should have the same access to government contract that women and minorities do. The entire set aside program is contained in 13 CFR 124.

NOW can demand that they be given equality in the case of the Fatherhood Initiative but only so long as we eliminate these other discriminatory wastes of taxpayer money.
