You forgot The Daily Show which is a far more serious news show than anything on FOX (ten Emmy Awards and two Peabody Awards). In fall of ’08 it was pulling in 2 million viewers per night *in a 10:00pm time slot.* Colbert gets about 1.1 million even later and a lot of people also watch online.

What channels a fraction of one percent of the population have the time to watch really matters very little. I do hope FOX gives those on the right some solace as they tune in to be serially misinformed. If they rise to defend and regurgitate the disinformation they have absorbed from such shows they will find that anyone with an interest in truth and accuracy can quickly knock their claims down flat.

What matters is not what a tiny segment of cable viewers watch for entertainment but what the population wants for leadership. And they want Obama.

The only reason “Daily” won anything is that the media and entertainment industries are absolutely filled with libbies.
In a nation of 300 million people, there are also probably 1 million people watching their navel. The point is that Fox dominates, and has from the time they began, because every other network has on their Obama kneepads. Do you have yours?

  2. Blake says:

They want who they THOUGHT was Obama- they were lied to. And if you truly think the Daily show is a far more serious show than Fox News, you need to get a brain scan, because there’s a tumor doing your thinking for you.

    • Darrel says:

Well if they think “they were lied to” then you shouldn’t have any trouble at all showing a profound cliff dive in Obama’s job approval numbers.

Would you like me to give the knife a twist and do it for you or would you rather withdraw the claim and save the embarrassment? Your choice.

      D.

ps For an Arkansas goat farmer with a high school education and a “tumor doing my thinking for me,” I’m not doing to bad eh?

      • Blake says:

        Pitiful

      • Blake says:

I’ll stand by my claim. Perhaps when we get some reliable data in, you will see I am right, but the time lag, and who they ask will play a role in what the numbers look like- you know that as well as me.

      • Blake says:

By the way, Darrel- are you still planting your goats head down? No wonder you don’t do so well. Actually the correct term would be goat rancher.

        • Darrel says:

They’re my goats, so I get to pick my title.

I only have 16. And they’re pygmies, but they do mow most of my 2.5 acres for which I am grateful.

Actually I don’t think the person in office has anything to do with TV shows and news reports. The liberal media and many of the same shows were in full force and effect during the Bush years (among others). Freedom of speech and expression are not determined by who was voted into office but by the actual document founding this country’s right, the Constitution. I think people miss the point when they start saying that now that so-and-so is in office we must change what we put on the radio/tv, whatever. If people are not watching or listening, let the shows fail (which is what they should do with any failing business – hello auto makers!!!). If they succeed, butt out and mind your business. You are free to change the channel or radio station or not participate at all. Don’t infringe on other people’s rights because of an election or supposed public preference.

If a Conservative/Republican is elected sometime in the near future, should we force out The Daily Show (which I have never watched ’cause I can’t stand that guy) or Maddow or Olberman or anyone for that matter if they still have an active viewership? I think not.

    • Blake says:

No, freedom of speech means that you are free to watch what you wish- I wish that Barama would get that through his thick jug- eared head. The marketplace determines who succeeds or fails.

  4. Adam says:

The part missing from your argument about Fox ratings is simply that Fox has long dominated the ratings but newcomers from MSNBC are eating away at those ratings each and every year while CNN crumbles under it’s own weak attempt at playing both sides in a nation becoming more and more split in the middle.

Give it time and a few more crying rants by Beck, smirky arrogant obsessing over Obama’s use of the teleprompter by Hannity, and a few more ambush pieces by O’reilly and we may see where Fox ends up and how long America will choose conservative and unhinged instead.

  5. Big Dog says:

Sorry Adam, but these numbers have been about the same for a long time (in percentage) and MSNBC is losing viewers. Olberdouche is losing as is Tingle Matthews and Rachel Madcow,
they suck and in a year this will be the same.

Every time these numbers come out these shows are on the top. O’Reilly has been number one for over 100 months.

  6. Adam says:

Fox is still on the rise along with MSNBC because CNN is on the decline. I’m not going to pretend that next month MSNBC will takover by any means but MSNBC’s viewership is not in decline and is becoming the biggest threat to Fox so far.

Sorry Blake. When I get to AR I never know if I’ll have Internet access or not. I won’t be around as much but I’ll find time to keep up with my blogs in my spare time as long as this Internet holds out.

    • Blake says:

Good for you- don’t run off the side of a mountain there. I hear some of those Ozarks are so steep, the realtors can sell both sides of an acre.

  7. Bleech says:

What the ratings show is that there are more stupid people than smart people watching the Faux network . There are more than 6 billion people on the planet. Most have not even heard of this blog or the Fox network. How bout getting off your lazy fat asses and do something that actualy makes a differance to anybody. And remember foks the bigger the dog the bigger the smell.

    • Blake says:

My o my- do you actually use that mind to think? Many more people have not heard of you, either- who cares?
Do let us know when a cogent thought passes through your mind like the flatulence that passes for your talk.

  8. Big Dog says:

Bleech, how nice of you to slither in. Fewer people have heard of you.

I served 24 years in the Army, what more do you want me to get off my butt and do?

The last election shows there are more stupid voters than not.

I am a registered nurse, how much difference do you suppose I make to people?

  9. Bleech says:

cry baby cry stick your finger in your eye then run to your mother and say it was not I.What is potty mouthed about what I said .Truth is not something this blog is about. Try to get a real job and quit being such a panty waist.Your millitary service does not make a differance to me or anyone else.Anyone can join the service. They take criminals and just about anything else with legs.lOve our chat though.Keep up the good work.Oh Was that doctor killer a friend??? Try hand to hand combat you might not fare that well in the real world.Do you ever go there?

    • Blake says:

Anytime, Bleech- I have pieces of people tougher than you in my stool. there are plenty of people who thought they were big and bad, but they are no longer here- I am. Whe you choose to use that brain to actually discuss an issue instead of name calling, feel free. I am going to be here.
