More Democratic Dishonesty

I have said many times that the democrats are a bunch of elitists who think they are better than the average person. In the aftermath of Katrina all we have heard is how the Bush administration was slow to respond and that people died because of it. Now we hear about a democratic congressman who used the National Guard to ferry him to his home, wait on him while he retrieved personal items, and then delay a rescue helicopter when the truck he was in became stuck. The congressman, William Jefferson, said that he did nothing wrong and did not ask the military to take him. He insists they did so because of the shootings and other violence at the time. However, a senior military officer has a different version:

Military sources tells ABC News that Jefferson, an eight-term Democratic congressman, asked the National Guard that night to take him on a tour of the flooded portions of his congressional district. A 5-ton military truck and a half dozen military police were dispatched.

Lt. Col. Pete Schneider of the Louisiana National Guard tells ABC News that during the tour, Jefferson asked that the truck take him to his home on Marengo Street, in the affluent uptown neighborhood in his congressional district. According to Schneider, this was not part of Jefferson’s initial request.

Now I realize the left with its dislike of the military would say this is a case of his word against mine but given that the Congressman is under FBI investigation for alleged wrong doing, and that the FBI is worried he might have returned to remove evidence, I would say the LTCs version is truthful.

I guess while people were being rescued and others were dead and dying it was an appropriate time for the Congressman to go into his home. While others were being denied access it is just fine for him to use the military for personal reasons. I just hope that the people will see this man does not give a rat’s butt about them. He puts his own needs above theirs and uses his power for personal gain.

And what is it with corrupt politicians named William Jefferson?
