McCain To The Rescue

During the campaign Barack Obama told us how his limited experience made him a better choice as Commander in Chief than John McCain, a decorated veteran. Of course there were many variables in the election and John McCain was not the ideal candidate. He was the wishy-washy middle of the road Republican that Colin Powell says we need. Of course, Powell endorsed and voted for Obama. I can only conclude that race was the deciding factor.

Now that the Community Organizer in Chief has been in office for a while the world is able to see how weak kneed he is. The Muslim world is thumbing their collective noses at him and North Korea is launching missiles and testing nuclear devices. Obama said that his strategy was to just talk with these people because that would bring us all together. He is an organizer of the world community.

The only problem is that no one is listening. North Korea is now preparing to launch a missile at Hawaii. The missile is reportedly unable to reach Hawaii but just aiming it at us and firing it is an act of war. North Korea also has a cargo ship moving around and experts believe it has weapons and other materials banned under UN resolution.

The Navy Destroyer USS John McCain is preparing to intercept that vessel in what North Korea will certainly see as an aggressive act. It is unclear what the ship will do once it intercepts but Lil Kim will not be happy no matter what it does. Fortunately, the McCain is manned by people from the finest Navy in the world.

Will this escalate into war? Will it provoke Lil Kim and will we need to retaliate (if Obama even has the testicular fortitude to do so)?

These things remain to be seen but I find it ironic that the McCain is working on unscrewing the mess Obama has made of things.

Be advised, this ship is named for Senator McCain’s father and grandfather, both of whom were Admirals. Fortune favors the brave.

    • Darrel says:

It also favors the well connected.

He graduated 894th out of 899 at the U.S. Naval Academy. Fifth from the bottom.

So he was an affirmative action, legacy case. Kind of like GW.

What do you call the person who graduates fifth from the bottom of his class at Annapolis? The Republican Party nominee for President.”

Well, we don’t know what Obama’s class standing was because his records are sealed tighter than a gnat’s a$$. However, it does not matter. He graduated which means he at least met the standards which are a hell of a lot tougher than most civilian schools.

The true affirmative action candidate was Obama. He never led anything. Where is the leadership training? He is demonstrating it all the time.

McCain is a smart guy. He is too center left for me but was better than Obama.

We will see what affirmative action Barry does here in the next few years.

Maybe you ought to check out your rightwing lies before you pass them along.

Obama graduated from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, which means he was in the top 20% of his class.

          Let’s review:

McCain graduated 894 out of 899 from the Naval Academy. What’s that, bottom .4% of his class?

Biden graduated from University of Delaware and then attended Syracuse University.

Sarah Palin flunked out from Hawaii Pacific University, went to community college in Idaho, only attending two semesters, joined a “beauty contest,” went to another community college in Alaska,… which is to say, she attended five colleges in six years.

BigD: “Where is the leadership training? He [Obama] is demonstrating it all the time.

          DAR
I agree he is. Some people just have a natural talent. My friends in high school said I was probably the type of person that didn’t need to go to college. I think I might have done pretty good in college.

Bottom .4% of your class? Not so good.

Oh, I forgot to roast this lie. Here is an example of the leadership he was providing 24 years ago:

          ***
He worked there [Chicago] as a community organizer from June 1985 to May 1988.[27][29] During his three years as the DCP’s director, its staff grew from one to thirteen and its annual budget grew from $70,000 to $400,000. He helped set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants’ rights organization in Altgeld Gardens.”

          Etc.

      • Blake says:

Perhaps he graduated low in the class, but he did better when the chips were down than you would have, D- you are not worthy to even mention his name, much less criticize him, unless you are a specialist in being a POW in Nam for seven years. You probably think you are.

        • Darrel says:

BLK: “POW in Nam for seven years.”

          DAR
He says five and a half years.

I liked McCain back in 2000. Too bad he didn’t win against GW. Maybe we wouldn’t have had 9/11 and we probably wouldn’t have had the Iraq debacle. Then he got his nose too far up Bush’s backside. Sold out. Too bad. Then he made a fool of himself in the election with the points Powell mentioned, and then the hail mary pass of picking Palin to appease the wingnuts.

          D.

          DAR
If you would like me to post the blatant examples of incompetence that Bush practiced before 9/11, which are well known, I can gladly do that. It’s kind of old news now.

On obvious example is Cheney who chaired an anti-terrorism task force.

Well, he was supposed to chair it. Even though he was warned by those in the Clinton administration that terrorism would consume a great deal of their time, Cheney never chaired a single meeting of that task force.

          Not once.

          Etc.

          D.

  2. Darrel says:

Bigd: “Powell endorsed and voted for Obama. I can only conclude that race was the deciding factor.”>>

    DAR
Really? It’s couldn’t have been something else? How cynical. Let’s see if Powell actually might have had any good reasons other than Obama being black:

    ****
“I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and…

[big snip of glowing praise which may make you a little sick…]

“and for that reason I’ll be voting for Senator Barack Obama.”

    DAR
Okay, so he liked Obama. But who doesn’t?

He also had seriously problems with McCain. For starters, the stupid, idiotic, terrorist smears:

“I’ve also been disappointed, frankly, by some of the approaches that Sen. McCain has taken recently, on his campaign ads, on issues that are not really central to the problems that the American people are worried about,” Powell said.

“This Bill Ayers situation that’s been going on for weeks became something of a central point of the campaign. But Mr. McCain says that he’s a washed-out terrorist. Well, then, why do we keep talking about him?

“And why do we have these robocalls going on around the country trying to suggest that, because of this very, very limited relationship that Senator Obama has had with Mr. Ayers, somehow, Mr. Obama is tainted. What they’re trying to connect him to is some kind of terrorist feelings. And I think that’s inappropriate.”

And then all the Muslim nonsense:

“He’s always been a Christian. But the really right answer is, ‘What if he is [a Muslim]?’ Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?”

And then the glaring problem with Cariboo Barbie:

“I don’t believe she’s ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president,” Powell said.”

    LINK

So we see Powell had lots of very good reasons for his decision which provide a very sensible alternative to your suggestion that it had anything to do with race.

All those campaign ads? McCain was not responsible for all of them just as Obama was not responsible for all the negative ones on his side.

Ayers is legitimate. There is a connection and Ayers is against America. You libs give him a pass but he did not deserve it. Wouldn’t it be ironic if a terrorist blew up his house and eliminated his wife and kids but left him to bear the pain?

Ayers should just disappear. That would be fine if he were not found for hundreds of years.

Wright? Another radical associate. Obama was slick about shedding the problems but he had them.

      • Blake says:

Its so “funny” in an unhumorous way just how hypocritical the left is in denying their culpability in the deaths of over 2 million Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians AFTER the war in Nam ended, after the left forced the end upon us with complicity on the part of the media. All of those deaths are on the left, so don’t whine about the American lives that the left caused to die in vain, just because they didn’t have the will to see it through.
There was plenty of blame to go around, but I blame the left most of all, because they turned their backs on the indigenous peoples of South Asia, once we were gone.
        Now that is truly hypocritical.

        • Darrel says:

Prices for Alaska North Slope crude are expected to average $63.28 a barrel for the current fiscal year, according to the new forecast released by the state Department of Revenue. That is a substantial decrease from the $77.66-a-barrel average price that the department forecast in December.

          [snip…]

With oil revenues accounting for nearly 90 percent of state general revenue, the new oil price forecast translates to a significant drop in money expected to flow into the treasury.

The budget deficit that was expected in December to amass to $450 million by the end of the fiscal year is now expected to be $1.2 billion more than that, Department of Revenue officials said.”

    • Darrel says:

Bigd: “have we seen his transcripts?”

      DAR
I don’t know. What is that suppose to prove? What’s your point?

Editing the Harvard Law Review does not necessarily involve writing *anything* at all for it. He was the final editor. Here is an excerpt of an article written about him and this job, in 1990:

      ***
As law review president, Obama is the last person to edit student articles, as well as longer pieces by accomplished legal scholars. The review publishes eight times a year and receives about 600 free-lance articles each year.

Referring to his fellow students at the review, whom he edits, he said: “These are the people who will be running the country in some form or other when they graduate. If I’m talking to a white conservative who wants to dismantle the welfare state, he has the respect to listen to me and I to him. That’s the biggest value of the Harvard Law Review. Ideas get fleshed out and there is no party line to follow.”

Obama spends 50 to 60 hours each week on law review business. The full-time volunteer job leaves little time for an additional 12 hours of class, plus homework. When it comes to choosing between the two, as it often does, Obama usually misses class.

One of Obama’s most difficult tasks as editor in chief is keeping the peace amid the clashing egos of writers and editors.

“He is very, very diplomatic,” said Radhika Rao, 24, a third-year law student from Lexington, Ind. “He is very outgoing and has a lot of experience in handling people, which stands him in good stead.”

Tina Ulrich, 24, a third-year student, wrote an article for the review that went through several editors before her final draft landed on Obama’s desk.

“When he sent it back, it had lots of tiny print all over it and I was just furious,” she said. “My heart just sank. But it was accompanied by specific examples of how parts could be made better. He wound up getting an enthusiastic response from a very tired writer.”

      Also:

“Yet some of Obama’s peers question the motives of this second-year law student. They find it puzzling that despite Obama’s openly progressive views on social issues, he has also won support from staunch conservatives. Ironically, he has come under the most criticism from fellow black students for being too conciliatory toward conservatives and not choosing more blacks to other top positions on the law review.

“He’s willing to talk to them (the conservatives) and he has a grasp of where they are coming from, which is something a lot of blacks don’t have and don’t care to have,…”

He did write one article for it, in 1990. A “six-page summary, tucked into the third volume of the year’s Harvard Law Review.” You can read about this here:
