Mayor Daly Apologizes For Corruption

I know many of you reading this are shocked because Daly has been dead since 1976. Could it be that like many who voted during his tenure, Daly has spoken from the grave? Well, actually no. This is Richard M Daly, the former mayor’s son, who just happens to be the current mayor.

The living Daly apologized for corruption as federal officials uncovered bribes and illegal hiring practices after an 18 month investigation. Daly said:

“It’s become clear to me that I should have done more to maintain higher ethical standards and prevent corruption.”

Daly should not feel so badly. He has corruption in his blood. His father was the man who rigged the 1960 election in Chicago to hand Kennedy the Presidency over Richard Nixon. The elder Daly’s legacy is such that old joke is that when politicians die they want to be buried in Chicago so they can still be active in politics.

The apple truly does not fall far from the tree but let us monitor this and see if Daly is forced to leave office. Let us see if the left calls for his head on a platter as they certainly would had he been a republican.

The story is here.

This one may unfold to be pretty bad, but thank goodness the days of the elder Daly and the political machines are long over.

  2. Kelt says:

Don’t we all have corruption in our blood? Heh.

  3. Surfside says:

Kelt is waxing philosophical again. I believe we all have the capacity to do good, evil or impotently choose not to choose. The recognition of and the ability to choose between good and evil is what makes us “human.” Corruption, though, that isn’t just a conscious decision to give in to the “dark side.” A corrupt person encourages or entices others to choose likewise — more of a collaborative effort. No, I don’t think we all have that in our blood.
