Karen, everyone does things that seem right at the time. As Kid Rock said, " I am proud that we elected our first Black president- I just wish he had done a better job, I really do>" , and that pretty much sums it up for many of us who first listened to him- after all , Obama IS a good speaker, I think all will admit.
But when reality comes calling, the person who leads the greatest country in the world had better have more than words to use, and he didn't.
I make no bones about my feelings for that man- I listened hard to the meaning behind those ambiguous words and phrases- like you, I had been a bit disappointed in Bush, towards the end, even as I knew that it was the Democrat majority that came into office in 2006 that was a part of the problem also. But it was Obama's actions to consolidate his agenda that bothered me the most- in his Inaugural Address, he promised that jobs were his top priority, and yet they weren't- in his second year, as we were sliding down, he said he would "focus like a laser on jobs", yet he did not- in his third year, once again he said he was concentrating on jobs, but he must have meant those of his campaign workers, because those were the only jobs he created this year.
So there you have it- he talks the talk, but down here in Texas, you have to walk the walk also if you want to be respected, and he has not.
Winston Churchill once said, " If you are twenty and you are not a liberal, you have no heart, if you are forty and are not conservative, you have no brains."
Most young people are idealistic- that's not a bad thing, but life has a way of pointing out fact from fiction, and tempering our most idealistic urges into something akin to reality- not all, mind you, or we would never change for the better, but life does have a way of showing you what is truly the best solution to almost any problem, and God will show you the rest.
