Mapes Still Does Not Get It

Mary Mapes, former CBS producer, has written a book. The book is due out November 8th yet a portion of it was included in Washington Post Column. The words from Mapes are evidence that she still believes, or wants us to believe, that the documents were real. She blasts out at Internet bloggers and tries to justify the CBS position. Here are the quotes from a column by Howard Kurtz as reported in Editor & Publisher:

“I was incredulous that the mainstream press — a group I’d been a part of for nearly twenty-five years and thought I knew — was falling for the blogs’ critiques. I was shocked at the ferocity of the attack. I was terrified at CBS’s lack of preparedness in defending us. I was furious at the unrelenting attacks on Dan. And I was helpless to do anything about any of it.”

“And right now, on the Internet, it appeared everything was falling apart. I had a real physical reaction as I read the angry online accounts. It was something between a panic attack, a heart attack, and a nervous breakdown. My palms were sweaty; I gulped and tried to breathe. . . . The little girl in me wanted to crouch and hide behind the door and cry my eyes out.”

“Faxing changes a document in so many ways, large and small, that analyzing a memo that had been faxed — -in some cases not once, but twice — -was virtually impossible. The faxing destroyed the subtle arcs and lines in the letters. The characters bled into each other. The details of how the typed characters failed to line up perfectly inside each word were lost.”

“To these people, there was no such thing as unbiased mainstream reporting, certainly not when it came to criticism of the president, no matter how tepid. To them, there was Fox News and everything else — and everything else was liberal and unfair.”

Note to Mapes: The documents were phony and your liberal biased blindness did not allow you to do what the public expects of respectable journalists. Documents are destroyed when they are phony and no fax machine in the world will take a document from 30 years ago and change the font to that found on computers not available at the time they were supposedly written.

Perhaps the reason that you are upset is that with the Internet, the public no longer needs to sit in front of a TV and have your spin spoon fed to them. The public now has a means to verify claims made by the liberal biased media. Instead of being told what we should believe, we are investigating for ourselves and finding the truth. Maybe if you did not use a partisan hack as your expert, you too would have found the truth. In reality, you wanted it to be true so you wanted the American public to believe it as true. You were crying like a baby because you realized your lies had been discovered and you probably began to understand that we are in a new information age where you can not tell us what you want us to believe and leave it at that. Maybe you were upset that they were believing the blogs and not falling for your lies.

Good-bye and good riddance to you and Dan “Courage” Rather.

  1. Mary Mapes Hits Bloggers and MSM in Upcoming Book

They had been getting away with telling lies for 25 years; why did that have to stop? Truth can really hurt someone who is not used to it.

  2. Mary Mapes is back?

I guess we’ll have to wait for the book’s appearance before passing final judgment on Mary Mapes’ mental state. At the moment the symptoms aren’t good.
