Lying Liars and the Media

I guess one of the biggest things that bothers me about the media (and society and politics) today is the total lack of honesty. I remember stories from when I was younger about “Honest Abe.” For those raised in the public schools today, that refers to Abraham Lincoln, a former president of the United States. Now I don’t agree with many of the things Lincoln did, but I remember the stories we learned about him. I don’t know that they’re true stories, but when it’s a story told to children, the moral is important. And that story about Lincoln traveling through the snow to return a few pennies shows that trait of honesty. And I bet he was honest in his raucous debates for public office, too. Maybe that’s why he lost a few times.

But today’s media, especially in the last month or so, has been virulently dishonest. I know for some reporters, it is just them being incredibly lazy, but if you’re that lazy, you really should just quit trying to be a journalist. Did you know that journalists allegedly subscribe to standards and ethics? If you ask them about it, they’ll claim they do, anyway. As a journalist, they are supposed to listen and gather information, verify it, and report the facts. But today most journalists are really just cheerleaders for the Democrat Party. Why? It doesn’t really matter. But take, for example, all “reporting” done recently relating to Obama’s speeches.

In many, many speeches and appearances, Obama continues to claim that Republicans are blocking his agenda and the Democrat agenda. That appears to be the Democrat election strategy for this year. Well, that is a complete and total lie. No, literally. That’s a complete false statement and Obama knows it. Any reporter should know it, and any journalist would know it as well.

For those who don’t understand how the Congress works in this country, the US Senate has 60 Democrats (58 that will claim to be D, 2 that are D, but won’t admit it, and that’s not counting the Democrats with an R after their name). With 60 votes in the Senate, they completely and literally have total control. With 60 votes, they can literally pass anything through the Senate.

There are 256 Democrats in the US House of Representatives (compared to 175 Republicans). With 256 votes, again, the Democrats can literally pass anything through the US House. There is absolutely no way any Republican in the House or the Senate can stop anything that Democrats want. The ONLY way ANY vote fails in either the US House or the US Senate is for at least one Democrat to vote against it. Do I need to type that again? Obama and the Democrats can literally pass anything they desire with every single Republican voting against it.

When Obama claims that Republicans have “blocked” something of his, it is a complete and total lie. I’m sorry, but there is no other way to put that. The Republican Party is completely and totally incapable of blocking anything in Congress today. A journalist should know that.

Now I’m not expecting Obama to change his lies. But I would like for reporters to at least be honest and report that he’s a liar. You know they would if a Republican made those same claims.

One Response to “Lying Liars and the Media”

  1. Blake says:

Barrie lying- now that is not news- journalists shilling and pimping for the liberals, that’s not news either.
Democrats having ethics and a moral compass?
    Now THAT would be news.
