Localism- The Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing

Mark Lloyd, the Resident’s new “Diversity” Czar, is counting on dismantling conservative Talk Radio by promoting the false flag of “diversity” which is code for liberalism. The liberals feel that they are under-represented in talk radio, but there’s a fly in their soup here- if people wanted to listen to liberal whining, there would be a market for it– there is not, simply because there is not much that liberals have to say that is interesting, or even logical- just fingernails on a chalkboard kind of hackle- raising rant that gets really tiring real quickly.

The way they are counting on getting their foot in the door, (since they feel entitled to other people’s money, rather than put up their own) is a strategy known as “Localism”, where they insist that stations carry more “local” programs, with more “diversity.” Mr. Lloyd has proposed, get this- that conservatives pay, as their licensing fee, 100% of their estimated gross- the entire operating budget, leaving no profit for the station, in order to operate.

Let’s get something straight, Mr. Lloyd- you are insane– no one except a loony liberal could possibly believe that a radio station could or should operate as a hobby, with no profit. Oh, I know Air America, George Soro’s pet radio station, doesn’t make a profit, but that is his problem, and should be- as a radio station, it sucks like a wind tunnel. Do we really want more of those?

The market should decide- if there is truly a market for liberal talk, then radio stations should sprout up, fueled by investor’s cash. Not as Mr. Lloyd wants to do, which is to take the 100% that he wants the conservative radio stations to pay, and give that money to liberal stations to operate. This is why I say he is insane- this is nowhere near fair, or equitable, and does nothing to level the playing field.

It just cripples the field of talk radio- as I have said, and the market bears me out- if liberals had anything significant to say, people would pay them to say it. It is simple capitalism, yet another boogeyman for liberals. For liberals, it is never about freedom- that is a no-no. Instead, it is about control, and forcing their viewpoint on others in a ham- handed fashion.

Considering that ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, and CNBC are already whoring for the Resident, you might think that he would be satisfied, but like his hero, Hugo Chavez, he wants total control.

Now there is a bill allowing the Resident to control the Internet, much like the Chinese, and Russians, and Venezuelans, all nations I would not choose to emulate, but then our Resident thinks more along those lines of governance than the Representative form of government we are supposed to have.  A lot of “liberal” people, who are not as liberal, or socialist as the Resident, are going to feel that this is no big deal- until it is their program, or station, or website that is “punished” for the sin of free speech.

Then you will hear them howl like scalded monkeys.

But then it will be too late.

  1. Samuel Adams says:

This is precisely why Michael Moore’s movie claims that capitalism is evil. Liberalism is not “fairly” represented in the marketplace of ideas because it has and is proving that it is a failed concept.

  2. Blake says:

Just as Liberals fail to believe in evolution when it is applied to business practices, they fail to believe that perhaps their ideology might be a wrong turn in political evolution, and fated for a die- off, so they want to help the flawed political genetics along, which only end up crippling the political animal as a whole.

  3. Adam says:

At least most liberals believe in evolution at least part of the time. That’s more than I can say for the majority of movement conservatives. Poor misinformed things…

Well, you know what they say- opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one, and they’re all the same.
Lumping ALL conservatives together is just as dangerous as saying all liberals think one way- I have several left- of- center friends, who say they are libs, but they are to the right of you=- and you are to the right of some others.
Watch out your liberties do not get taken away.
