Let’s Take a Bite of the Apple

Apple reported record profits for the final three months of 2006 outperforming expert’s expectations. Apple, helped by strong Christmas sales, posted a $1 billion profit. One billion dollars for three months and that is nearly twice as much for the same period the previous year. Apple must have been gouging all the poor, frazzled, Christmas shoppers and charged them way too much for ipods. There is no way that Apple deserves to make a billion dollars in one quarter. That is just excessive and the government needs to investigate this. I expect to see a bunch of the members of Congress standing near the ipod display at Best Buy telling Americans that it is a tragedy they are paying so much for Apple products and that George Bush needs to stop making his friends in “big electronics” rich. We also need legislation to slap a windfall profit tax on them and they need to be stripped of any and all special tax breaks they get.
That sounds pretty silly does it not? Just change Apple to Oil Companies and ipods to gas and you have the same stupid argument the idiots in the Democratic party made about the cost of gasoline last Summer. And while I am thinking about it, if people can afford to double Apple’s profit by buying unnecessary but expensive electronic equipment they can afford to pay for their gas without complaining.
As for Congress, I have two words for you, SHUT UP!

Well, while I am all for a free market, and certainly don’t blame the gas companies for making less money on a gallon of gas than the government does, I still think we should lessen Apple’s income. These big companies making all that money just fries my eggs. That’s why I bought a Zune. LOL!!!!
What a great post! YOU COULD HONESTLY SUBSTITUTE THE WORD APPLE FOR VALERO OR Exxon AND NO ONE WOULD KNOW A LIB DIDN’T WRITE IT. You made me laugh out loud.
Way to go Wayfarer, you made a choice for the Zune and were a part of that free market. That choice is something that would be lacking if the gubmint regulated every company’s profits…
Georgina, Thanks! I worked at that a bit to make it fit. You know my job is to make it all make sense. I hope I am doing just that. be sure to tell your friends to stop by!!
