Leftist Protest

Only the left can afford to protest. This is one of the reasons I don’t see freedom returning to America any time soon. After all, these teachers told their students to join them, and they’re getting paid, by the taxpayer, to protest at the taxpayers’ representatives, to get more taxpayer money. People who actually work for a living cannot just take a day off and protest, because they’re busy working and being productive. And these are the people who want freedom the most.

Incredibly, the government in Wisconsin appears to be doing the right thing — telling government moochers that they are simply out of money. The government can’t make any deals or arrangements because they just don’t have any money. I think this group appears to actually understand it. But, of course, the teachers and unions honestly don’t care. They want their money, and they don’t care who has to work to pay them.

Oh sure, the union people claim that it’s not about the money, but that’s just a complete lie. They claim they want “collective bargaining agreements.” But I ask — what do they collectively bargain about? How much the unions get paid. So it IS about the money, and isn’t about anything else. I feel sad for the students who have been lied to and sucked into these protests, thinking they’re helping their teachers. Hopefully most of the students are there just because they want to take the day off and hope that the more they protest, the more days off they will get.

** Updates: Democrats in the WI Senate, no doubt under threat from union bosses, have fled. And some details on what the union is so upset about that they have shut down schools:

Public union employees will have to pay half the cost of their pensions. In the private sector, there are few pensions left. Instead, most have moved to the 401K model, in which employees pay at least half of all contributions.

Public union employees will have to pay 12.6% of their medical costs. Non union employees typically pay as much as 100% of their medical insurance costs. Of course, under Obamacare, it will all be free.

Under the new plan, teachers would “suffer” an increase of 8% in their medical insurance costs. The last two years my medical insurance costs have increased by 20% each year.

Once again, the teachers and the unions in WI are whining because they want MORE cash from the taxpayer, period. This is about nothing else.

*** Update II:
The Democrats have fled the state. If I were governor, I would immediately shut down all their state credit cards. I would start proceedings to have them removed from their elected positions. I would bring them all up on charges of dereliction of duty. I would declare them fugitives, and they would get no pay for the days they are in hiding. In the meantime, the rest of the government should completely shut down — no government employee gets paid until the budget, including the union part, gets passed. I would also make a formal request of the governor of the state of IL to go and get them and escort them back to WI.

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” – Thomas Jefferson

The founders knew this could happen.

I see the protests are spreading. I think if any appear near me, I’m going to join them with a sign that says, “We want more cash!”

If Scott Walker just reduces the bill to its collective bargaining parts- well, that is not a “budgetary” process, therefore, a quorum is not needed, just a simple majority, and they have THAT- and all the protests will go away.
After all, the heart of the collective bargaining is NOT about wages, but their gold-plated healthcare, and pensions- neither of them is technically budgetary in essence.
