Kevin Costner Has The Right Idea

Regardless of what his political views are, Kevin Costner made a great observation about the film Death of a President in which George Bush gets assassinated. Costner did not think it right that a film like this was made without regard for the feelings of his family (and Bush himself, I might add):

“It’s awfully hard if you’re his children, his wife, his mother, his dad; there’s a certain thing we can’t lose as human beings, which is empathy for maybe the hardest job in the world. “Whether we think it’s being performed right or not we can’t, like, wish… or think that’s even cute.”

Well said.

Amen Big Dog and kudos to Mr. Costner. I know this sounds weird but I was watching the ABC miniseries Path to 9/11 and no matter how much I disliked President Clinton I was still disgusted with the terrorists projecting his image up on a big screen and then continue to horrificly shoot at his picture. I know it happens to every President. BUt still, I couldn’t help but think, “man how scary that must be for him and his family.” My point is that even though I don’t, or didn’t, agree with President Clinton I could still feel for him as an American. Did that make any sense?

So, there are a few people in Hollyweird with some common sense remaining. There was also the 85 or so Hollywood stars and others in the business who took out an advertisement denouncing Hamas and Hezbollah. I wrote about it here. Don’t remember if you wrote about it as well.

    P.S. – I’m moving

CA Marks, I don’t find it strange. I did not care for Clinton as President but watching those terrorists in the movie shoot his image made me cringe because, like him or not, he was our leader. I served in the military during his tenure and did not like him as CINC but I followed my orders and did my duty because he WAS the CINC.

The problem is the left revels in movies and rhetoris that does harm to Bush whether it is political or physical. What kind of idiot cheers when he gets killed in a movie? What kind of idiot makes statements about him being killed (as I have read at some blogs). One person wrote that he did not want Bush to be killed because then Cheney would be President. Not because of any other reason.

It is just sick. When Clinton went in for heart surgery I said a prayer for him and wished him well in my writings. Like him or not he was the President. The left could learn a lot from folks like us.

Laurie, I remember reading your post and as usual, I liked it.

What do you mean you are moving. The url looks the same to me.

The spam was totally killing me at the old place, (literally hundreds per day, I was offline the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend for the fundraiser I did, and I had 400 spams to deal with on Monday…. no time left to blog!) and I couldn’t update my sidebar because of some bugs or something in the version, and I wanted more control on the templates. So now comments and trackbacks are closed on the old site and I’ve been busy hacking my first template. Not done with it yet, I’m still playing around with it, and I’m working on a new header graphic.
