Kerry Chokes on Sour Grapes

The story below almost rendered me speechless . . . almost. In what must be the worst case of sour grapes since Al Gore lost the 2000 election, Kerry whined about his defeat to a crowd of fellow Bostonians yesterday. In a Bacchanalian display of self-pity, Kerry revisited many of the same complaints that have been aging since the 2000 election:
Kerry: Trickery, intimidation kept people from polls
Associated PressBOSTON — Many voters in last year’s presidential election were denied access to the polls through trickery and intimidation, former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a voters’ group today.
“Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated,” the Massachusetts senator said at an event sponsored by the state League of Women Voters.
“There is no magic wand. No one person is going to stand up and suddenly say it’s going to change tomorrow. You have to do that,” he said.
Kerry supporters have charged that voting irregularities in largely Democratic areas made it difficult for voters to cast ballots in the November election. A lawsuit in Ohio cited long lines and a shortage of voting machines in predominantly minority neighborhoods, but the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed the suit.
Kerry also cited examples today of how people were duped into not voting.
“Leaflets are handed out saying Democrats vote on Wednesday, Republicans vote on Tuesday. People are told in telephone calls that if you’ve ever had a parking ticket, you’re not allowed to vote,” he said.

You can read the rest of this mind-numbingly predictable article by following the link. Trust me when I tell you the story offers no surprises. It’s the same old sob story and shuffle-step dance we’ve heard and seen before. It doesn’t matter to the Dems that most of the charges have been cleared by elections officials and the court systems. It doesn’t matter that the 2000 election has been over for more than four years — with no provable charges arising from those claims. It doesn’t matter that Bill Clinton won two consecutive terms without any Republicans screaming about unfair voting practices. No, truth and reality have no place in this argument. They have been stomped down like grapes in a vat — until they transform into the Democrats’ sour whine. Unfortunately, it is a whine that hasn’t aged all that well in four years.
In the article, Kerry insists that election reform is necessary to right these horrible wrongs. Why did the cries for election reform only begin with the Dems after they lost two presidential elections and a significant number of Congressional seats? They refuse to believe “the will of the people” turned against them. We heard no cries of “foul” in the 1992 & 1996 elections. Gore, at least, could bemoan a popular vote victory in 2000. If Kerry thought his campaign had a chance for a 2004 win, he must be drinking too much wine . . . sorry, Dom or Krug. It’s those sour grapes. You would think they would have turned to raisins by now. Then, Kerry could eat them with his bran cereal. He still seems to be impacted from the 2004 election . . . and needs to purge the waste.
