It’s Past Time To Be “Presidential”

Well, now that the combined “star power” of Oprah, Michelle, and Barak Obama couldn’t (as usual) persuade a European anything (nation, president, leader, or Queen) to accede to his personality, and grant Chicago (and his cronies) the 2016 Olympics, perhaps he could decrease his Sasquatch- like carbon footprint and fly his A$$ home to attempt, for the first time ANYWHERE, to be “Presidential”.

I know it is a hard ask, considering he has so little experience doing anything other than campaigning- he has spent more time doing that  than anything else. Now, there’s nothing else to do.

Chicago was eliminated in the first ballot of voting for the 2016 Olympics on Friday, a stunning defeat for the city that was expected to be one of the two finalists. Not even the presence of President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama — nor a long list of celebrities — was enough to help the United States’ third-largest city.

The race for the 2016 Olympics has come down to just Rio de Janeiro and Madrid; Tokyo was knocked out in the second round.

That left just Rio and Madrid still in the mix. The IOC voted again to separate the two and elect a winner, which will be announced by IOC president Jacques Rogge later Friday.

Yep- I know it’s not a grand venue, like speaking to the German people ( and some wonder at where the idea for the mustache on that poster came from), but you just have to buck up, little buckaroo- there’s work to be done, and you can’t cry over spilt graft.

Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics would probably bring in more money from a United States TV network — and more from corporate sponsors — than Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo or Madrid, industry executives say. The International Olympic Committee will pick a city Friday in Copenhagen, setting the stage for the negotiations that will provide the bulk of its television revenue. A Chicago win is expected to generate a three-way bidding war betweenNBC UniversalESPN and Fox.

Can’t you smell that smell? The smell of defeat, the smell of failure, the smell of impotence- of course you recognize that- it wafted from you during every meeting you have had with other world leaders, leaders who would barely give you the time of day, Mr. Resident- this is because they do not respect you- when the President of France scolds you, you cannot sink much lower, can you? Even someone as clueless as you must know this.

Obama held out the enticing prospect of a Chicago games helping to reconnect the United States with the world after the presidency of George W. Bush, pledging that the “full force of the White House” would be applied so “visitors from all around the world feel welcome and will come away with a sense of the incredible diversity of the American people.”

“Over the last several years, sometimes that fundamental truth about the United States has been lost,” Obama said. “One of the legacies, I think, of this Olympic Games in Chicago would be a restoration of that understanding of what the United States is all about and the United States’ recognition of how we are linked to the world.”

Even Michelle’s dragging her poor dead father into the mix didn’t sway the judges, who evidently thought little of this blatant attempt to play on their “compassion”.

His wife tugged at IOC members’ heart strings by discussing her late father, who had multiple sclerosis. She recounted sitting on his lap, watching Olympians such as Carl Lewis and Nadia Comaneci compete, and how her father “taught me how to throw a ball and a mean right hook.”

“My dad would have been so proud to witness these games in Chicago,” she said.

That’s it, drag him out and prop him up- didn’t help, did it? I didn’t think that it would- you can’t make a childish argument and expect to win, and since everyone with a rudimentary brainstem perceives the Resident as a very weak and naive person, they had no trouble ignoring his pleas, and indeed probably took a sly delight in telling an American President  no, so sorry, you and your nation don’t qualify.

So, back to the grind, you know, the job you were elected to do- I know it is not as glamorous as the job of Messiah, but you , face it, do not have the chops for that position-

That position is way above your intellectual “grade”.

Well that little slap of reality is going to leave a mark.

Makes him look weaker and he has nothing to show for bailing when there is work to be done.

At least maybe the ladies got some shopping in.

    • Blake says:

Probably a side trip (in more than one way) to Amsterdam for a little bit of really good bud- you know, for movie night at the WH. Gotta kick back, after all, and we know Barry likes it-

  2. Big Dog says:

How long will it be before some lib cries that it was racism?

How long will it take for Obama or one of his toadies to blame it on Bush?

  3. Mike Radigan says:

Personally I’m glad. We (all of Illinois, but especially downstate Illinois) would be paying this off for DECADES.

I’m a big sports’ fan and follow many sports’ message boards here in Central Illinois. No one spoke in favor of getting the games. These boards and posters have nothing to do with politics. Here’s one such board located in Peoria, Illinois.

    • Blake says:

Yes- this would have benefitted a few cronies, and had the rest of the state, indeed the nation out of pocket- as if we are not already.
Besides, I want to see if Rio can clean up their slums, or if the crime during those Olympics will be as bad as I think it will be.

  4. Adam says:

Personally I find the olympics boring as hell. But I’m glad to see you conservatives concerned with how much Obama is working now that the vacationer in chief is now on permanent vacation. I’m sure that Thursday night to Friday afternoon trip just wasted SO much time that Obama could have been using to solve some problems. You know, what problem couldn’t be solved if the President just worked for about 16 hours longer on it instead of flying to Denmark?

    • Blake says:

Especially considering the “carbon footprint” you all talk about, PLUS the cost to the taxpayers. Kind of a “et them eat cake” moment, wasn’t it.
Especially when you considered their speeches were all about THEM, not the USA- what arrogance. What a loser.

      • Adam says:

Well, glad to see you concerned with carbon footprints and all. Their speeches weren’t ALL about them but they did relate their personal views for sure.

        • Blake says:

And, unfortunately that didn’t help- but neither did the Europeans’ tendency lately to pile on- 18 votes out of 94?
Perhaps they should have sent ACORN ahead of them.
          Axlerod probably wanted to.

        • Adam says:

Only if it’s the fake magical ACORN of your fantasies than can crash economies, swing elections, and employ pimps and hookers. That’s a mighty powerful group. The real life ACORN can’t do anything nearly as interesting as you imagine…

        • Blake says:

No, they are more concerned with whores and pimps and evading the IRS
          Kinda like the Nobamas.
          “Let them eat arugula!”

The other Central Illinois (actually Bradley University) message board I follow:

    http://www.bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=13213

Again, no political sides other than downstate vs Chicago. Just too much money to host it.

  6. Barbara says:

Let me ask you a question Adam. What would have happened if the US had been attacked while he was gone? He would have to go in hiding in Denmark and things would be a mess here. That definitely would have ended his presidendy.

    • Adam says:

I don’t get your point. The POTUS isn’t supposed to leave the US now because we might get attacked?

      • Blake says:

No, but he did act more like the mayor of Chicago than the President of a whole country, but then he hasn’t had much practice doing that, has he?

        • Adam says:

What can I say? He loves him some Chicago…

        • Blake says:

No, he loves him some graft and cronyism- its the Chi-town way, and Valerie Jarret and her little cabal stood to make out like literal bandits in the real estate market if Chicago had gotten the Olympics.

Hey Babs- did you really mean to comment or just pimp your site?
      Make up your mind.

    • Blake says:

Isn’t it strange how Bab’s comments mirror EXACTLY Adam’s comments above?
Kind of like these libtards have a script they follow mindlessly.
      WHEN LIBZOMBIES ATTACK!

      • Adam says:

Conservatives concerned that there is some script for liberals to follow? That’s rich. You won’t find a more organized set of people with their marching orders than the American right wing. Echo….echo…….echo.

But strangely enough that IS my exact message…just copies and pasted in to spam this site. Oh well…

        • Blake says:

No- I am not a conspiracy theorist- in the first place, you’d have to have brains to do that, so that leaves libs out- but as we can see, they ARE real good at pasting lockstep thoughts up, aren’t they?
Truthfully? Neither side has neither the brains, nor the ability to keep one’s mouth shut, in order to have a successful conspiracy- everyone’s a wimp these days, and just have to assuage their inner child by sharing secrets-
I miss the good old days of Omerta.

  8. Adam says:

Right wing bloggers like yourself get your ideas from other blogs, right wing news sites or from talk radio and you parrot out a common language. Observers can witness it over and over, even on this site.

Now, this is on the left as well because that’s the nature of the Internet. We have our DKos and DemocraticUnderground and whatnot. But the left doesn’t have a strong talk radio wing that pipes out content for them to repeat and fake outrage about. You deny listening to Glenn Beck but somebody you read or listen to does because you parrot Glenn Beck and his fantasies a lot.

Probably 90% of right wing blogging and commenting is related to content put out by morons like Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh. Toss in WorldNutDaily, and Drudge and you have a pretty decent sized ring of lunacy.

You haven’t found a myth you won’t propagate from your hatred of ACORN to your fear of Czars. You parrot out talk of socialism, nazism, communism, you talk about rules for radicals. All of this garbage comes from a few key players in right wing media and it trickles down to you.

So again, it’s ironic hearing talk about lockstep thoughts from a conservative like yourself.

    • Blake says:

I read Rules for Radicals right after it had been printed for the first time youngster- I thought that it was batsh*t crazy then, and I haven’t changed my mind – I thought that Hippies and other libs were batsh*t crazy then, in the 70s, and I haven’t changed my mind- because you haven’t given me a logical argument as to why you think you are correct.
I do not think you are capable of that.
If my line of reasoning mirrors that of anyone, perhaps I SHOULD watch them- but the truth is that I am too busy to do more than catch an occasional glimpse of, for example, Beck.
I hear he is doing some good at taking down liberal liars though.
      Fight the good fight!

  9. Adam says:

Classic examples are with President Clinton. Remember Clinton “lobbed” missiles at Iraq? Remember when Clinton “gutted” the military? Echo…echo…echo…

    • Blake says:

Lobbing is a good descriptive, although I do not think for a moment that Billy boy could actually throw, but lobbed is about as good as he could do on a , well, baseball mound- throw like a girl, probably.
And gutted the military? I am not sure that I ever said that, because I do not think he would have, well- the GUTS to do that.
      But you keep it up.

    • Blake says:

And it is not like the left has no echo chamber- remember this old chestnut?
No blood for oil- Ok, where’s the oil?
Bush lied- people died- Now there’s an oldie but goodie, huh?
I can see from Madonna’s visit on Letter-perv’s show that she, like all other libtards, still have Bush Derangement Syndrome.

      • Adam says:

Yes, the left shares some common talking points because the left general dominates the Internet political sphere. But the left does not have talk radio and does not have figureheads in news like the folks at Fox.

Liberals have Maddow and Olbermann and their influence is growing but nowhere near the scale of Sean Hannity or Bill O’reilly. Not only are these folks spewing their hate for liberals on 24 hour Fox News, they are taking it on the air with talk radio at the same time and reinforcing these talking points.

        • Blake says:

The reason conservatives do so well is that there are more people who want to hear that point of view.
If people wanted to hear Olbermann, or Maddow, they would be popular instead of simply deranged.
Conservatives have no magic bullet, they just have better talking points- it really is that simple.
Liberals look for conspiracy, but the simple truth is liberalism doesn’t pay.

        • Blake says:

And you might listen to O’Reilly- he is fairly even handed when it comes to analysis- Hannity not so much.
But each side has their entertainers- we have Beck, you have the unhinged Olbermann. It’s all the same.

        • Adam says:

It’s not about who has a better message. It’s all about demographics.

        • Blake says:

If it is just demographics, then what’s the big deal?
The people are smart enough to figure out the message and if it resonates with them- that is the true test.

  10. Adam says:

That’s just examples of common right wing language that is spread around, not necessarily things you’ve said yourself. I know Big Dog loves to say “lobbed” and “gutted”…

But again, I don’t care what you say about not listening to Beck and others. You’re not magically repeating the same right wing themes by accident. You’re citing Fox News on this site, you’re probably reading WorldNutDaily. It’s all part of the echo-chamber.

Saying Obama’s olympics travel was to help “cronies” in Chicago? A talking point.
Saying the NEA and Obama are doing “propaganda?” A talking point. Saying Obama is “indoctrinating children” with his speech to schools? A talking point.

You can deny it but the evidence is saved here on the Internet for all to read…

    • Blake says:

A talking point can also be called “the truth”
      Chicago= cronies
      NEA+ Obama= propaganda
A speech with homework specifically targeting “How to help Obama achieve his goals”= indoctrination.
Here’s a little hint- whenever you see something like this, insert the word “Bush” for” Obama”, and then see if you might have a problem with that. Ok?

  11. Adam says:

Take just this one for example. Google search for “obama olympics cronies and it brings up dozens of right wing sites: Townhall.com, Fox News, Michelle Malkin. Echo…echo…echo…

    • Blake says:

Just as if you google Bush/ hitler, or blood for oil- you have the same thing, so don’t point the finger here- that is rank hypocrisy.
And I do try to keep my sources fairly mainstream here- I do not use some of the far right sites, indeed, I skim right on by them, but like my newest post on Kevin Jennings- that source is the Washington Times-
Perhaps the MSM is tired of carrying Barry’s water.

      • Adam says:

You regularly write about topics that are oh so conveniently exactly what the rest of the right wing bloggers around the Internet are writing about. It’s no surprise why. It all comes from the top down, one way or another.

        • Blake says:

Often, if you look at the timeline, what I write about is days ahead of whatever the talking heads get crazy about- so do they follow me?
I don’t know, but I write about what I see as the things that I think are wrong,
Have you ever considered that I am right?

        • Adam says:

I consider whether or not you’re right every time I question one of your assertions. You tend to think that this is knee jerk “Blake said it, say he’s wrong” action but the sad truth is that every thing you say I verify and 9 times out of 10 you are laughably wrong. Most of the time you just pretend you’re right anyway despite evidence to the contrary, though…

        • Blake says:

No, most of the time I know that I am right.

  12. Darrel says:

If Bush had lobbied to get the Olympics in Dallas and liberals had rooted against America and for other countries (they wouldn’t have), they would have be considered (rightfully) unpatriotic and unamerican.

What this lays bare is the cultic priorities of these people. Once again we see that Rightwingers are far more devoted to their untenable ideologies than they are to the USA.

    D.
    —————-
“Soon after news broke that the International Olympic Committee had rejected Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics, which President Obama had personally lobbied for, Weekly Standard blogger John McCormack published a celebratory post on the magazine’s blog, titled “Chicago Loses! Chicago Loses!.” McCormack wrote that “Cheers erupt at WEEKLY STANDARD world headquarters.

But the post has now been changed. The reference to cheers have been removed and the title has been shortened to a non-exclamatory “Chicago Loses.” The current post neither acknowledges nor explains the changes that were made.”

    • Blake says:

Darrel, I think it is a good thing if the people of the US do not have to pony up a bunch of money we do not have, just to enrich a few of Nobama’s pals, and suck up tax dollars on the backs of regular Chicagoans and others in this country, so hell yes- I am cheering too.

      • Blake says:

Whether it was Dallas, or anywhere else, if we do not have the money, why even bother?
Besides, it is right that no South American country has had it before, and Brazil might be the best situated money- wise to do this- why begrudge them?

      • Mike Radigan says:

We (the State of Illinois) cannot even pay for newspapers on time. From today’s paper:

        http://www.pjstar.com/news/x1231801205/Finke-Deadbeat-state-wont-get-the-news

        • Blake says:

Yeah- apparently some people to the left can’t grasp the simple reality that you actually have to pay your bills, and if you haven’t the money, don’t try to buy.
A broke person doesn’t even THINK of vacationing at Disney World (unless they are insane), but our government thinks an Olympics will do the trick?
What reality do they live in? It is not the real world, that’s for sure.
