It’s Only Racist If You’re White?

There are two white girls named Lamb and Lynx Gaede who are thirteen year old twins. They are singers and they sing songs about being white. Their songs are racist as far as I am concerned. They have caused a lot of uproar with their lyrics and there are many people who think they should not be singing what they do. Some of their appearances have been cancelled because of this. I believe that they have as much right to sing their music as does any other performer.
The NAACP had this to say:
“It really breaks my heart to see those two girls spewing out that kind of garbage,” said Ted Shaw, civil rights advocate and president of the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund — though Shaw points out that the girls aren’t espousing their own opinions but ones they’re being taught.
This person is right that they are expressing opinions that they have been taught. Their mother is a racist and their father has a swastika a belt buckle. There is much to be concerned about when the lyrics include “Let the cities burn, let the streets run red, if you ain’t white you’ll be dead.” I don’t care who you are, that is racist. What disturbs me is that the NAACP is upset about the girls and their lyrics yet they do not have the same opinion about the rap music that deals with killing white people. For instance:
- Kill the white people; we gonna make them hurt; kill the white people; but buy my record first; ha, ha, ha”;
“Kill d’White People”; –Apache, Apache Ain’t Shit, 1993, Tommy Boy Music, Time Warner, USA- “Ni**as in the church say: kill whitey all night long. . . . the white man is the devil. . . . the CRIPS and Bloods are soldiers I’m recruiting with no dispute; drive-by shooting on this white genetic mutant. . . . let’s go and kill some rednecks. “Kill Whitey”; –Menace Clan, Da Hood, 1995, Rap-A-Lot Records, Noo Trybe Records, subsidiaries of what was called Thorn EMI and now is called The EMI Group, United Kingdom.
- “A fight, a fight, a ni**er and a white, if the ni**er don’t win then we all jump in. . . . smoking all [of] America’s white boys”;
–“A Fight”; Apache, Apache Ain’t Sh**, 1993, Tommy Boy Music, Time Warner, USA.- “I kill a devil right now. . . . I say kill whitey all nightey long. . . .I stabbed a fu**ing Jew with a steeple. . . . I would kill a cracker for nothing, just for the fu** of it. . . . Menace Clan kill a cracker; jack ’em even quicker. . . . catch that devil slipping; blow his fu**ing brains out”;

There are many more examples but these are enough to make the point. This, regardless of what you believe is just as racist as anything the two white girls sing.
Two wrongs do not make a right but if the NAACP is going to be disturbed about something they should be disturbed about it all. There is enough hate to go around and it comes in all colors.
