Italian Court To Decide Jesus’ Fate?

Two Italian men are in court. They both attended the seminary together and one became a priest, the other an atheist. The atheist is suing the priest because the atheist, Luigi Cascioli, says that Jesus never existed and that the Catholic Church is perpetrating fraud on the public. He says that the priest, Enrico Righi, is continuing that fraud by writing in the parish newspaper. the evidence that Cascioli presents is a book he wrote. Here is what he said:

“In my book, The Fable of Christ, I present proof Jesus did not exist as a historic figure. He must now refute this by showing proof of Christ’s existence.”

I guess The Holy Bible is not a credible book to prove the existence of Christ. Seems to me that book was written by people who lived a bit closer to the time and they all say that Jesus existed and they tell his story. The Koran mentions Jesus as a prophet and many religions acknowledge the existence of Christ though many argue whether he was the son of God. I think this should be all the proof that Righi needs to prove Christ was alive. Perhaps the atheist is trying to get publicity for his book.

Interestingly, the atheist admits the deck is stacked against him since the area is heavily populated by Christians (Roman Catholics) and he joked it would take a miracle to win. This man is admitting what we have said about Michael Newdow here in the States. That is, Newdow wishes to force his views on the majority of the population just as Cascioli wants to force an area that is heavily populated with religious people to see things his way.

Why can’t atheists just go about their lives with their beliefs and leave the rest of us alone? You never see a Christian (or believer in another religion) suing atheists to forbid them from espousing their views. It is always some atheist telling the majority that they can not display items showing their faith. I think this is getting ridiculous and it should at least be put to rest when the judge in Italy rules that Christ existed. Perhaps the rest of the town can find the atheist a nice new place to live.
