It Ain’t Easy Being Green

Kermit the Frog sang a song entitled Bein Green in which he described how tough it was to be green. Now he is the spokes-frog for Ford and declares it is easy being green as he displays Ford Hybrids. This little green amphibian should make Al Gore very happy. But the truth is, for Al Gore the father of modern moonbat global warming death and destruction scare tactics and fictitious movies, it really is not easy being green.

According to an article by Peter Schweizer in USA Today, Gore is not as green as he wants the rest of us to be.

Gore has held these apocalyptic views about the environment for some time. So why, then, didn’t Gore dump his family’s large stock holdings in Occidental (Oxy) Petroleum? As executor of his family’s trust, over the years Gore has controlled hundreds of thousands of dollars in Oxy stock. Oxy has been mired in controversy over oil drilling in ecologically sensitive areas.

Living carbon-neutral apparently doesn’t mean living oil-stock free. Nor does it necessarily mean giving up a mining royalty either.

Humanity might be “sitting on a ticking time bomb,” but Gore’s home in Carthage is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.

The issue here is not simply Gore’s hypocrisy; it’s a question of credibility. If he genuinely believes the apocalyptic vision he has put forth and calls for radical changes in the way other people live, why hasn’t he made any radical change in his life? Giving up the zinc mine or one of his homes is not asking much, given that he wants the rest of us to radically change our lives.

This is another example of the do as I say mentality of the left. One would think that a person with such a high profile making such demands would garner a lot of attention from the MSM. One would also think that people would be looking seriously at what Gore says he wants us to do and what he actually does. Unfortunately, the kool-aid drinkers on the left take this pseudo-science hook line and sinker.

The article also points out that Howard Dean who told us global warming is real has not had the DNC sign up for green energy. Peter Schweizer points out that the RNC has not signed up either but guess what, the Bush Administration has:

Even the Bush administration is using green energy for some federal office buildings, as are thousands of area residents.

Remember this when the environmental wackos come out of their caves this election year and tell us how the right is ruining the planet. Perhaps they need to get their houses in order before they start pointing fingers.

Sesame Street – Bein’ Green

It’s not that easy bein’ green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that

It’s not easy bein’ green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over ’cause you’re
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky

But green’s the color of Spring
And green can be cool and friendly-like
And green can be big like an ocean
Or important like a mountain
Or tall like a tree

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why
But why wonder, why wonder?
I am green and it’ll do fine
It’s beautiful!
And I think it’s what I want to be
