Illegals Won’t Get Health Care

Because Obama will make them legal

Barack Obama gave his speech to a joint session of Congress and in that speech he said that illegals would not get health care, This prompted Joe Wilson to shout “you lie” and led to his being punished by the House. Big fricking deal.

Wilson was correct, Obama lies. Obama has continued to say that illegals will not get health care in his subsequent speeches. After the Wilson episode Democrats rushed to include language in the bill so that illegals would not get health care. If illegals were not going to get it, according to Obama, why did they need to fix the bill?

Stevie Wonder can see that under the original version illegals would get care. Even if they write it in, illegals will still get care because no one is allowed to ask for proof of citizenship before enrollment. If we can’t ask then illegals will get care.

But Obama might be technically correct if he gets his way. He wants to make illegals legal so that they can receive health care. People who are in this country illegally should not be rewarded with a legal status. We should use whatever means we have available to find the illegals and send them packing after they spend some time in the iron bar hotel. This includes proving citizenship for driver’s licenses, health care and work. We should punish any employer who hires illegals (provided the government system to check is functional) and send the illegals home.

The idea that they need to be here to pick fruits and vegetables is not valid. I need more money but I will not rob a bank to get it and if I did, that excuse would not keep me out of jail. There are millions of people on welfare who need a job and picking produce is good work. There are plenty of unemployed who could use a job. Besides, the government turns off water and kills the farming industry to protect a little fish. At this rate there might not be many farms left for our produce.

Barack Obama said he wanted to make these people legal so they could be covered under his health care plan:

“Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don’t simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken,” Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. “That’s why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.

Mr. Obama added, “If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all.” Washington Times

Obama is telling us that this health care issue has highlighted the fact that immigration is broken and that he wants the 12 million illegals to become legal (resolving the issue does not mean sending them home in Obama speak) so that they can get health care (ensure those who are here legally have access…).

This is a back door amnesty program and is the solution to Obama’s claim that people who are illegal will not get the health care. It is nothing more than rewarding people for breaking the law. They came here illegally and do not belong here. If you want to come to America legally and work to make a better life then we welcome you with open arms. If you come here illegally you should be hunted down, sent to jail and then deported.

I am not surprised that the health care plan does not require proof of citizenship in order to be enrolled. Given Obama’s reluctance to prove his citizenship I can see why he would not want to burden others with that pesky little task.

I would add that people here illegally should have access to affordable quality heath care too. Just not subsidized and not in this plan, as Obama correctly says, thus proving Wilson the liar.

Yeah, what was the big deal. You break the house rules, you apologize on the floor. But no, this had to be a big whine fest. It was a pathetic show. They lined up to play a game and make a big deal of him trying to avoid taking personal responsibility for his actions.

I know, when a football player breaks a rule and the flag goes down, we should just wave the rule if he apologizes. Is that what you think?

It’s called “personal responsibility” and taking responsibility for one’s actions. If you don’t like that house rule, change the rule, don’t let the rogue get away with breaking it.

Wilson was choked up in his press conference today. Probably best to have a thread about that since Pelosi’s show of emotion was so inappropriate.

Darrel, Rep. Pete Stark said, on the floor of the House, that President Bush lied, and he did not get a reprimand, so where’s your outrage there? Harry Reid, and every other Demmie said much the same thing, so where is your outrage at the hypocrisy? Or are you a hypocrite also?
It seems that when Republicans break the rules, they are the only ones with the courage to accept responsibility for their actions- the liberals act like children, then run from their responsibility. Typical.

      Let’s roast that one:

      ***
“The Democrats asked Joe Wilson to apologize on the House floor for his outburst and he flat out refused.

      What happened with Pete Stark?

“…the minority party introduced a resolution of censure, which was killed. Stark ended up doing the right thing and apologizing to the House and President. Wilson is refusing to apologize to the House.

If there is any hypocrisy here, it is on the part of Republicans. They wanted to censure Pete Stark, but couldn’t do it since they were in the minority (remember – elections have consequences). But when it comes to Joe Wilson, they are circling the wagons. They haven’t pushed him to apologize on the House floor, but the Democrats did and he refused.

The Republicans wanted to censure Pete Stark. That’s the second highest level of punishment in the House, with expulsion topping it. For Joe Wilson, the Democrats are wanting a resolution of “disapproval”, which is the most minor disciplinary action in the House – essentially a slap on the wrist.”

      So, spare me.

Joe apologized to the Resident, and wrote an apology- I wouldn’t have apologized to the House either- for what- shouting the truth?
Only AFTER the vote to censure was killed did Stark apologize- rather disingenuous of him, wasn’t it?
And Harry Reid has called Bush a liar several times- the liberals seem to think they have a pass on bad behavior here- and the Demmies want a resolution of disapproval simply because they know you should never punish someone for telling the truth.

  3. Blake says:

And as far as illegals, they need to be shipped back to their country- and their families also- I am tired of them sucking off of my work- and I know illegals better than you do, as I have worked alongside them- you have only taken their money as slumlord- so you know little, except that you like to exploit them, but then that is typical of a liberal- exploit the “lower classes”, especially when they can’t report you.
    Wonderful humanity, there.

BLK: And as far as illegals, they need to be shipped back to their country->>

      DAR
Okay, you will need a gestapo or SS to go around and do this. Why don’t you write to your congressman so he can work to change America into this kind of country that you would like.

BLK: and I know illegals better than you do,>>

      DAR
Actually you don’t. In addition to working with them (as I have), have you ever been married to one?

BLK: you like to exploit them,>>

      DAR
How is it exploitation to rent a property to people who need a place to live? You’re not anti-capitalist in addition to being against humans that are different than you are you?

I don’t ask about legal status because it’s not required. After having several crack head, pregnant wife beating, meth cooking, white trash types, I now specifically look rent to hard working, freedom loving, family raising, cash on time paying, immigrants.

      They’re the best.

America’s strength has long been built upon the backs of these people. In fact, since day one. Get informed.

      D.

      • Blake says:

Been informed- you are a slumlord, taking advantage of their situation- and don’t you know that renting to your own family is NEVER a good business plan?

      • Blake says:

No Gestapo needed- just law enforcement doing their jobs would be good enough- especially if you tell the criminal ones that if they come back across again after serving their sentence, they go back to Mexico feet first.

  4. Big Dog says:

Darrel, I never disputed that Wilson should have been penalized for his outburst and I wrote that on several occasions. His punishment was no big deal. You seem to think that something is amiss here. Wilson refused to apologize and was punished. He knew it would happen and accepted the consequences of not apologizing.

Funny you should talk of personal responsibility. The left is full of people who do not know what that is. Wilson took responsibility and he took the punishment when he refused to apologize on the floor.

The hypocrisy is how all other things are handled. How quickly these guys were to take care of what he did but how long they have been dragging their feet on Rangel. Pelosi never did punish William Jefferson.

He was wrong. He should have said that Obama was a child molesting moron (there is no rule against that whether it is true or not). Instead he shoulted the one word that is against the rule.

And just so we are clear, they are not allow to call presidents a liar from the House floor, which Wilson did.

How quickly did they demand a punishment when Pete Stark did the same? His punishment was successfully defeated by Democrats and THEN he apologized:

He took the floor after his fellow Democrats successfully killed a motion to censure him in the wake of his remarks last Thursday asserting that American troops were fighting in Iraq to have their “heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

    Just pointing out the hypocrisy.

  5. Big Dog says:

You say Wilson did not accept responsibility but I say you are wrong. He took the decision not to apologize on the House floor and accepted the censure. He knew that would happen but he accepted that responsibility.

    • Darrel says:

Bigd: “He took the decision not to apologize on the House floor>>

      DAR
Right. He took the decision not to take personal responsibility for his action by following the house rules and then simply following through with the lightest of taps on the wrist by apologizing to the house. That’s not taking responsibility, it’s the opposite of it.

      Bigd: and accepted the censure.”

      DAR
      a) There was no censure (which is different), there was only a most insignificant “resolution of “disapproval.” The republicans thought it necessary to “censure” Pete Stark, which is “the second highest level of punishment in the House, with expulsion topping it.”

      b) Accepting or not accepting is not an option so it doesn’t mean anything to say he “accepted” something. If he accepted responsibility and the house’s direction on this he would have apologized and been done with it.

Unlike Stark, who the republicans thought should be charged with a “censure,” Stark took responsibility and apologized for his action. Wilson refused to take responsibility.

      More Wilson commentary (NYT’s):

“Mr. Obama didn’t lie. The bills before Congress declare illegal immigrants to be ineligible for subsidized benefits. It is impossible to imagine any final bill doing otherwise. Mr. Wilson was a boor, but some Republicans still insist that he was right because the bill doesn’t ensure that the undocumented have no insurance.

Time for a reality check. Illegal immigrants are here. They are not eligible for Medicaid, but many still get sick and many get care, often in emergency rooms. The current proposals would likely not stop them from using their money to buy coverage through an insurance exchange, without subsidies. Just as they can do now.

Should we take a harder line? Force people to prove citizenship in emergency rooms? That’s illegal, for good reason. Make verification requirements so onerous that not a single illegal immigrant slips through? Very expensive, and not smart. It would be highly likely to snag deserving citizens — like old people who don’t have their original birth certificates. And besides, we’ve tried that: A House oversight committee reviewed six state Medicaid programs in 2007 and found that verification rules had cost the federal government an additional $8.3 million. They caught exactly eight illegal immigrants.

In the case of an epidemic, like swine flu, should illegal immigrants go untreated so they can infect legal residents and American citizens? Hard-line Republicans insist that they will fight for citizenship verification. They could, in theory, get the country to spend whatever it takes to do that and proudly report back to their voters. But there is a line beyond which antipathy to the undocumented can be damaging to those voters’ health, not to mention the federal budget. Mr. Wilson and his admirers seem to have crossed it.”

      • Blake says:

“(Mr.) obama didn’t lie…” yes he did- a lie of omission, perhaps, but a lie nevertheless, otherwise, why would the Senate be so feverishly “fixing” the loophole, if it did not exist?
And as to your next to last paragraph, you are saying even after the reworking of the ENTIRE medical system, things will be the same? Then why waste the money?

  6. Big Dog says:

The fact that they are illegal means they should be sent home. We spare no expense looking for a person who threatens Obama but ignore those who commit crimes each day when they walk across that border.

They do not deserve anything. It is not a matter of them being different, it is a matter of them breaking the law.

    It is fairly simple.

Hell, we spend more time putting cops out to catch speeders than to catch illegals.

  7. Big Dog says:

Wilson said Obama lies. Stark said Bush sends kids to die for enjoyment. Which one should receive the harsher punishment?
