If We Did This We Would Be In Trouble

Councilwoman Karen Toles of Prince Georges County Maryland had a brush with the law recently but she came out of it relatively unscathed and no doubt because of her position. Toles was driving a government vehicle and was caught going 105 miles per hour and making an unsafe lane change.

If you or I had been the one caught we would be in a world of trouble. Going more than 20 miles an hour over the speed limit in Maryland results in a heavy fine and 5 points on the driver’s license.

Toles was issued a warning for her excessive speed and given a $90 ticket for the lane change. There is no doubt in my mind that the police officer ignored the speed because of who she is. There is absolutely no way on God’s green Earth that a regular citizen would get off with a warning in the same circumstance.

Toles said she was late for an appointment.

Well isn’t that special? She is so important that she needed to drive 50 miles an hour over the posted speed in order to make an appointment.

What would have happened if she caused an accident that killed people?

It is time to hold politicians accountable for their actions and it is high time we held them to the same standards as the rest of society.

I call for Councilwoman Toles to resign her position. She used a taxpayer provided vehicle to break the law. She excused it because she was late.

Councilwoman, you need to resign right now.

And the police officer who let her off with a warning needs to be fired.

Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.
