How Does The Times Get The Information?

Bill Keller of the New York Times has tried to justify the release of classified information by saying that people had the right to know but then said the information was widely known and that the terrorists knew it. Which is is Bill, people knew or they had the right to know so you told them?

In addition, Keller stated that he is not surprised that the administration is upset because this is an election year:

“I mean, it’s an election year. Beating up on The New York Times is red meat for the conservative base,” Keller said. “But I don’t think this is all politics. I think the administration is a little embarrassed. This is the most secretive White House we’ve had since the Nixon White House.”

Considering how the NYT reports every classified item it gets, is it unreasonable for the administration to try and keep secrets?
