How Did Harry Reid Win?

This past week I discussed the irregularities at the Nevada polls and how SEIU technicians were responsible for the voting machines. The powers that be assured us that even though the machines were registering more votes than cast, it was nothing to worry about and the results of an inquiry would be made available after the election.

It is after the election and Harry Reid won. Reid picked up 8% to win which is a huge pick-up. He was down by an average of 3% to his opponent and he won by 5%. That 8% swing is unreal and since incumbents who poll under 50% usually do not win, something seems amiss.

Reid and his goons were twisting arms yesterday and had the casino mobsters going over lists of employees who had not voted and instructing bosses to get on those folks and make them vote. One has to wonder what kind of shenanigans took place in this election.

Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the country even though Harry Reid, by his own account, saved the world from collapse.

It seems he was unable to save Nevada but some mysterious folks in Nevada saved him. Something hinky took place.

Well, like the other relics in Congress, Reid has been around a long time and is pretty advanced in age. Maybe he will join Kennedy and Byrd soon and we can be rid of him.

I bet there are a lot of Democrats right now who wish they had ignored Reid, Pelosi and Obama.

I also wish I owned a moving company in DC. Looks like a lot of people will be packing up and moving after the TEANAMI in the House last night.

As an aside, Kith Olbermann was railing about Tea Party candidates and saying that Palin’s picks did not do so well (he is intimidated by women, especially strong ones). He failed to mention how many people Obama campaigned for, and on more than one occasion, lost last night. Those Obama went to help did not fair so well. MSNBC, Lean Forward and take it like a man…

Cave Canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

First of all calling it an 8% swing is a little misleading Reid was polling at about 45% versus 48% for Angle. The margin of error in these polls is 3% or 4% so if you think of +4% you get in the range of the results.

A stronger argument against calling it stolen is that exit polls match the results. The male and female vote was an even 50% each:

    Reid won 46% of males and 53% of females: 23% + 26.5% = 49.5%

    Angle won 48% of males and 42% of females: 24% + 21% = 45%

Essentially the female vote which is usually a strong Democratic base won it again for Reid. Unlike in many races Angle only won 4% more of the independents and that wasn’t enough considering 11% of Republicans voted against her and only 5% of Democrats voted for her.

Harry won outside that MOE. The corruption runs deep in Nevada. It will be great to see old Harry slumping around the Senate. We could have had Schumer.

And Harry is old. Maybe he will die off and we can be rid of his corrupt ass.

        “Harry won outside that MOE.”

Yes. Outside the MOE by 1 or 2 points depending on the poll you’re going by. Polling is good but they’re not using crystal balls.

There are significant challenges to accurate polling these days created by the growing use of cell phones and the use robo-calling. We’ll see polling techniques adjust for these problems over the years but for now it is what it is.

“And Harry is old. Maybe he will die off and we can be rid of his corrupt ass.”

Keep dreaming. That is the only way your side can stop some of the Democrats you despise so it’s no surprise you look forward and even cheer for such things.

Hey- at least we kept his spawn from becoming Governor there- that was probably a lethal dosage of Reid for even the unions.

As a side note we have had issues with exit polls nationwide for a while. What the polls do is tell us how people voted, not if the vote counted. We have millions of “spoiled” votes in each election for one reason or another. In an election only in one state the number of spoiled votes is much less of a factor and you see more accurate exit polling.

I loved the strong-arm tactics at the casinos yesterday. Classic banana republic actions.

    • Adam says:

They can force people to vote and pressure people to vote a certain way but the person still votes in secret the way they want. It’s not just unions for Democrats either. We see it with other big corporations doing the same for whatever candidate they support at the time.

  4. Blake says:

Nevada is a UNION state, with SEIU in charge-and despite the large parts of the state that she DID win, she just couldn’t capture the union strongholds of Vegas and Reno- and those two were the main reasons she lost- that and the massive bussing of union “voters” to the polls.
