His Parents Should Be Proud

As many of you know, I am a frequent traveler. I happen to be in Columbus this week. I needed some hygiene items so I went to a local store. In the aisle was a mother and her 2 children. The kids were getting travel size hygiene items in lots of ten. The mother told me they were getting the items for soldiers serving over in Iraq. So far, nothing overly special.

Then the mom tells me that it is her son’s birthday and instead of presents for himself he wants to send items to the troops. He also asked that friends who come to his birthday party bring items for the troops, not a present for him. I was very proud to meet this young man. I told him that he was truly a great American.

If he ever runs for Durbin’s seat he has my vote.
