Hillary Supporters, Come on Over

On the night the “Unifying” convention got under way a poll shows that about 30% of Hillary Clinton supporters do not support Barack Obama. Most of these folks are taking a risk by bucking the party because they risk being castigated and called traitors. Look at how Joe Lieberman has been treated since he dared to support John McCain. It is amazing that all the Democrats who refused to support him actually expect him to support them. He has given them more support than they deserve.

In any event, the Hillary supporters are not willing to support Obama. They do not think he is experienced enough and they believe that Hillary was treated unfairly during the primaries. I have said it before and I extend the offer again, come on over. You do not have to change parties (though you can if you want) and you will be free to support who you want in four years (and we won’t call you traitors). If you want to defeat Obama and give Hillary a shot in four years then the best way to do it is to get behind McCain. We can be united today for McCain and in four years we can have a spirited debate about which of the two is better qualified to lead this country. If Obama wins Hillary will not get another shot.

There are many like you who are upset. This is Debra’s story:

Now I know that if Hillary had been the nominee Debra would be supporting her and we would be on opposite sides. But the fact that Hillary lost does not mean that Debra or millions like her have to devote blind allegiance to whomever the party nominates. They should be free to vote for whom they please without being bullied or labeled as traitors. You folks should be free to put country above party and vote for what is in the nation’s best interest.

Folks, you know that terrible feeling you have in your stomach? You know that nagging ache that keeps making you wonder what if? That feeling that lets you know that you lost but still makes it hard to believe? That pain is awful and anyone who loses after putting in as much time and energy as you did and then loses has felt it and no one likes it. It intensifies as you are forced to watch the convention knowing your candidate will not be the nominee.

It is your turn to give that feeling to all the Obama backers. You have the opportunity to give a gut punch to the people who treated your candidate badly and who then treated you badly while celebrating their victory, a victory assisted by the media, a media that also turned on your candidate. You can take the life out of millions of people and their puppets in the media by voting John McCain into the White House. It will deflate Obama’s huge ego and it will give you the chance to say “I told you so.”

Come on over to our side. Yes we have differing opinions on some of the subjects but we are united in our belief that Obama lacks the experience to be president and would be a dangerous pick for our country. Remember, if he wins Hillary will not be able to run in four years. If he loses she will be all but assured the nomination.

Come on over and let’s put them through the same pain you feel. Revenge is a wonderful therapy and a dish best served cold.

A good and grand offer, Big Dog. I heartily support you in this welcome, and I do hope some will see fit to follow your suggestion. But as to comments, watch your back! There are some out there with really dark souls.

  2. Big Dog says:

Thanks for the kind words Kathy. I think that the average people in this country just want what is best. I am not talking about those out in the far left or the far right. Average people of all walks, all colors and all backgrounds want a safe country with good opportunities.

Hillary, who I do not support and would not vote for, was treated unkindly and now her supporters are being treated as badly by smug sore winners. I welcome people to our party, even if just for one election, so they can exercise a choice rather than a mandate.

Tell all your friends to swing by and express an opinion.

As for the dark side, I am more than prepared for the dark side (Yoda taught me…)

  3. Roy Lofquist says:

And we promise not to call you Reagan Democrats either.

    Dog-

Your pandering to Clinton voters makes you look weak. Face it, you and the rest of the w(r)ong wingers HATE Hillary Clinton. She ranks amongst your least favorite polls. If she’d gotten the nomination, the level of vitriol you’d be spewing would equal or exceed what we read from you now.

Any Clinton voter that votes for McBush should switch his or her registration to (r)epuke. It is that simple. If one cannot see that Hillary’s stances are far more similar to Obama’s than McSame’s, then he or she is not a Democrat.

I am not pandering to them. We are inclusive in the Republican party. We don’t expect people to be disenfranchised like they are on the left. They ignored the 18 million votes she got and they selected a candidate instead of electing him. All the things they cried about in 2000 they did during the primary. It is a shame. They are welcome here.

Any person who votes for Obama should be shot for treason…

  6. Angi says:

Interestingly, in her speech tonight, Hillary STILL did not say that she believes Obama will make a good president, or that she has changed her mind about his inexperience…

    Mangey-

“We need to elect Barack Obama because we need a President who understands that America can’t compete in a global economy by padding the pockets of energy speculators, while ignoring the workers whose jobs have been shipped overseas. We need a president who understands that we can’t solve the problems of global warming by giving windfall profits to the oil companies while ignoring opportunities to invest in new technologies that will build a green economy.”- Hillary Clinton 8/26/08

“Barack Obama is my candidate. And he must be our president.”- HRC 8/26/08

Without question, Hillary Clinton believes that Obama will make a good president. The fact that she did not use elementary terminology so that you could better understand her does not mean that she doesn’t support Obama. You watched an excellent speech and missed its most basic points. Back to school for you, sweetie.

  8. Big Dog says:

Hillary said what she had to not necessarily what she believes. I think she was more honest during the primary.

She spoke for 20 minutes and never once said what his qualifications were or why he would be a good president.

I think it was a good speech, her best. I think she said what she had to but it was nowhere near a rousing endorsement.

  9. Bunny Colvin says:

    Dog,

I hear what you are saying but there is no way to know what she truly thinks. It’s all speculation on our part.

That being said, if Hill can’t get over a bitterly fought primary for the good of the party she represents in the Senate, then she should get out of politics.

Harry Reid just finished giving possibly the most boring speech in DNC history. I almost clicked over to Americas Got Talent for a minute there. And that is a scary thing.

  10. Big Dog says:

Hill is a Clinton. With them it is Clinton, party then other things. They do not like to lose and if he wins she cannot run in four years.

I watched Myth Busters. Much better. Did Bubba speak?

  11. Bunny Colvin says:

Myth Busters? Was it about Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction?

Yeah, Bubba did speak. I haven’t read any “expert” analysis yet, but I did not think that his speech was anything exceptional. Not bad, but not great.

Kerry and Biden came out swinging. By the time this thing is over, most voters will realize that McCain=Bush.

    PEACE

  12. Big Dog says:

They busted the myth that the moon landing was staged. Next they will bust the myth that Obama is a new kind of politician.

Kerry and Biden are lightweights. Kerry played the Swiftboat lies and yet he has never released the records he said he would.

By the time this is over Obama will be tarnished. He is already playing the game of “I don’t like that so I am going to the Justice Dept” game about TRUE ads. You can see it at the bottom of the sidebar.

McCain has endured much more than they could ever throw at him. With Bill and Hill working behind the scenes to defeat Obama he is in for a hard ride.
