Hearsay: Pelosi Won’t Seek New Term As Speaker

Desperate to win, Democrats are pulling out all the stops. Some are running away from the Obama/Reid/Pelosi agenda and are now touting conservative principles where they claim to have voted more with the GOP than with party. This, of course, is nothing more than a method to gain votes and get reelected. They will go right back to being led around by their noses if they win.

Some are claiming that they would not support Nancy Pelosi for Speaker if they are reelected and one, Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.), is claiming that he heard Pelosi will not even run again to be Speaker.

This is nothing more than a tactic to get voters to reelect him based on his “opposition” to Pelosi and his supposed conservative credentials.

For one thing, Nancy Pelosi craves power and there is no way she would not run again for Speaker should her party keep the majority. If she were to not seek the position again it would be seen as a victory for the Republicans so there is no way that she would not seek to hold that office. That and she is power hungry.

This is all based on some pipe dream that Democrats will hold control of the House.

In other words, McIntyre is not going to have to worry about not voting for Pelosi. He won’t be there to vote and she will be part of the minority so Speaker is out of the question anyway…

Pelosi is as popular now with most Democratic politicians and Democratic supporters as she has always been and has done a good job for the party. These candidates are just struggling to find their message and it’s too little too late for them.

Place this one with the rumors that a Democrat (like Hillary Clinton) will run against Obama in the 2012 primary. It’s not happening. There will be no serious Democratic candidate except Obama on the ballot for the Democrats.

Also people have floated recently the idea that Biden and Hillary may switch jobs in order to charge the base up and help Obama’s reelection campaign. I find that far fetched as well though far more likely than Obama getting a serious primary challenger.

I agree and I think I made it clear that this is nothing more than hearsay.

As for the Obama/Biden/Clinton story, it is important to keep in mind that this was from a left wing supporter in Bob Woodward.

Not saying that makes it true, just sayin that the right did not gin this up.

I agree. The media is as much responsible for these rumors as anything bloggers or politicians could come up with. If there’s a pause in any news cycle then the crazy gets to rise to the surface and become part of the normal debate.

Democrats lie not just for conscious tactical reasons, but as a matter of ingrained habit. The facts are never on their side, so lying reflexively serves them far more often than not.

It is unwise to take anything a Democrat says at face value. Their grail is power; they respect nothing else. Certainly not the ethical obligation to tell the truth that the rest of us feel.

I believe that you are right, this is nothing more than an election year ploy. There is no way that Pelosi is not going to seek another term as Speaker, and there is no way that these people who claim they will not vote for her will keep their promise once the pressure is applied by the Democrat leadership.

Like the NRA, Pelisi will give up the speakership when they pry her cold, dead fingers from it.
