See, I do a good deal of traveling, so I’m familiar with much of the U.S. I recommend you leave Mommy’s basement sometime (if you can get the chains off and the ball out of your mouth). Then again you’re a liberal & resident of CA, and thus enjoy getting screwed by your politicians…are you happy with your girl San Fran Nan? Is she gonna take some time out from her book tour to come over and screw you personally?

I’d say they had some pretty pressing issues back in 1980 as well. Carter and Reagan debated once.

Ever heard of those pesky things called newspapers, they used to get the news out to the people prior to TV and radio. The coverage could be sent to various cities by telegraph and printed in the news papers. Also if you weren’t so ignorant you’d also know that there were some incredibly pressing issues at that time, thus the reason for the numerous debates. I’d say we’ve got some equally pressing issues at this time, the Wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, 30+ years of failed energy policy that is having a huge impact on our economy, the looming threat of Islam, the GSE Banks, and illegal immigration.

In 1858 there were debates on August 21, August 27, September 15, September 18, October 7, October 13, and October 15 between Lincoln & Douglas.

“Items of note: the debates of 1858 set the stage for Abraham Lincoln’s later run for the presidency; 1948 and 1956 were the only public debates among presidential candidates prior to 1960; there were no presidential debates between 1960 and 1976.”

Too bad you can’t even read your own sources…

Why you ask? Because Barak Obama has little history as politician that we can use figure out exactly what his views are, how he will likely respond on certain legislation, and how he will respond in his use of Executive power.

Even his “well scripted” speeches tell of very little of what he is about and the few things he has said have had very little practical planning. Universal Health Care (aka Socialized Medicine) who pays for it? A Civilian force equally funded as the Pentagon, how he gonna pay for that 500 billion and what color shirts will they be wearing? Energy policies beyond his own hot air and inflating our tires? Global re-distribution of American money via the UN?

These are all things he will have to explain to the American people, which he has not done to date.

Glad you asked. I was thinking about the big debate brouhaha today. This led to some reminiscence
of past presidential debates. I couldn’t think of an election which featured more then 2 or 3 debates between (r)epuke and Dem candidates. Turns out I was right…Again. Here’s a brief recap I found…http://www.debates.org/pages/history.html

There are never more than two or three debates and they always take place in late September and October. Why should we have a debate-a-thon this time around? We’ll have 2 or 3 in October. Please explain to me why this is insufficient, in your unREASONable opinion. Thanks!
