Former President Carter Weighs In

When Jimmy Carter became President he allowed the country to go into the dumper. His inability to stand up for America led to our disgrace when Iranian fanatics (probably led by their current President) too Americans hostage for 444 days. He projected weakness to the world and that is why others felt they could walk all over us. It is no accident that the hostages were released when Reagan became President. The Iranians knew that a new sheriff was in town and would not tolerate the BS.

Carter has weighed in on the international surveillance program. He said that it was illegal and that the Attorney General authorized torture so it is natural he would support the man who put him in office. Carter also said:

“Under the Bush administration, there’s been a disgraceful and illegal decision _ we’re not going to the let the judges or the Congress or anyone else know that we’re spying on the American people,” Carter told reporters. “And no one knows how many innocent Americans have had their privacy violated under this secret act.”

I want this feeble old man to tell everyone how many people who had nothing to do with terrorism were arrested under this program. The moonbats keep telling us that this is domestic spying but sine one party had to be outside the US is takes away the domestic part of the argument. In addition, the only people we listened to either had or were strongly suspected of having a relationship with terrorists. Carter can cry all he wants but he would sing a different tune if the bad guys killed his family and the people in his family’s town and our government knew who the likely perps were but did not surveil them.

Carter also said:

“If my voice is important to point of the intent of the law that was passed when I was president, I know all about that because it was one of the most important decisions I had to make.”

I can not imagine his voice is important in any way. He was one of the worst Presidents we have ever had. How effective will it be for him to tell us what his intent was when he signed the law? Perhaps he should have written it down then because it would be way too easy to mold his intent to reflect his partisan views. Also, Carter thinks this was one of the most important decisions he had to make. This reflects the basic problem with the left. They can not understand that the most important decisions they have to make involve keeping America and its citizens safe.

Once again, we are reminded why you can not trust the Democrats with our national security. Carter had a failed Presidency and now he is trying to alter perceptions of him. He wants to look like someone who was competent. The Queer Eye for the Straight guy group could not provide a make over that drastic.
