Edwards and Kerry, Giving America Hype

The actor Christopher Reeve, best known for his portrayal of the comic book hero Superman, died of complications from an infected bedsore. This is a tragic end to a tragic story. I join many people around the country in expressing my deepest sympathy for the family and friends of this courageous man.
John Edwards, unfortunately, used Reeve’s tragic passing as a chance to play politics and provide false hope to millions of Americans. Edwards said this:

”If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to get up out of that wheelchair and walk again,”

This gives the impression that somehow a Kerry administration would find miracle cures for the maladies that affect many people. This supposes that the same government that can not provide enough flu vaccine would somehow muster the technology needed to cure much more serious diseases.

John Edwards should be ashamed of himself. He is an embarrassment that took a painful event and used it to curry political favor and give false hope to those in need.

Kerry/Edwards: Always full of hype.
