Duck The People

I sent an email to Senator Hillary Clinton the other day. It is not an easy thing to do. Though the whole contact your senator site has overtones of how they should be accessible, many of them use web forms and encourage people who are not residents of their state to contact their own senators. Hillary Clinton, and others, use a web form. I was able to figure out her actual email address and send my information right to her. This is the response I got:

Dear Writer:

Thank you for your interest in corresponding with me via e-mail. If you are a current New York resident, please direct your comments through my web form at http://www.clinton.senate.gov/contact/webform.cfm?subj=issue. My office will only be able to respond to messages that are routed through this form. If you are not a resident of the state of New York, I encourage you to contact one of the Senators from your home state, who are listed on http://www.senate.gov/”http://www.senate.gov. This is the only response you will receive to messages sent to this address.

I encourage you to visit my website, http://clinton.senate.gov/”http://clinton.senate.gov for information on the issues that are important to the state of New York. In the coming weeks, my online office will continue to be updated to provide timely information to those who visit.

Sincerely yours,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

I see that you must use the web form and if you are from another state she suggests you contact your senator. That would be fine and dandy if I were concerned about something my senator did with regard to my state. And if this involved Hillary Clinton conducting business in the interest of New York I would not care. I was interested in commenting on items that deal with her involvement in issues that affect THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES! I feel that if senators can be involved in the country’s business than people in the country should be able to contact them about it.

I am truly concerned that senators would feel free to go on TV and radio and make any comments they deem OK yet they limit the contact to them to people of their states. I know the people from their states are the only ones who vote for them and if that is their sole concern then they should shut the hell up in any matter outside of their state.

If you feel like writing directly to Senator Clinton without using a pesky web form, her email address is:
