Dixie Twit Can’t Keep Her Mouth Shut

Maines

Natalie Maines, the lead singer for the Dixie Chicks, got herself and ultimately the band in a bit of trouble a few years ago when she told an overseas audience that she was ashamed that George Bush was from Texas. I imagine that is about the only thing Bush and the Chicks have in common, because I am sure he feels the same way about them. The Chicks lost a lot of money after the incident when people stopped buying their CDs and radio stations stopped playing their songs. Maines once commented that they paid the price for freedom of speech. No, they paid the price for exercising their freedom of speech. People who are much better than they will ever be are the ones who paid for it.

The Chicks recently released an album that includes a few songs that take a stab at the folks who dared to question their acts or dared to stop buying or playing their music. The main song, Not Ready to Make Nice, has not received a lot of air time but is a number one iTunes download. and CD sales have been brisk. The ironic this is that Maines is not ready to make nice but she complains that they received little support from other artists who, the Chicks claim, cashed in on the event by being anti Chicks. One would think that if you are trying to sell records and get people back to you then probably should be trying to make nice if at all possible.

Instead, Maines (the big mouth of the group) wants to know what is wrong with being unpatriotic:

“The entire country may disagree with me, but I don’t understand the necessity for patriotism,” Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. “Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don’t see why people care about patriotism.”

The fact that she asked this question indicates that she is out of touch and is not very educated. The definition of Patriotism is “love for or devotion to one’s country.” If you have to ask why you should love or be devoted to your country then there is something wrong with you. Maines believes that people who criticize what she said in the past are a bunch of uneducated trailer park dwelling rednecks. It is interesting that she believes she should be able to say what she wants regardless of who likes it but wishes to silence those who speak up against her.

I think that Natalie Maines is grossly misguided and has had such a good life because of the people who have faced danger that she has forgotten the importance of Patriotism. She is welcome to ask whatever she wants but I hope she will not be too offended if we ask her to leave the country and check her passport at the door. If she can not find a reason to love this country or be devoted to it then I would just as soon see her leave. Perhaps she can try one of those progressive countries that the left always wants us to model after. Several come to mind and perhaps Maines will go live in one of them where she can experience life through a Burka.

  1. You said it and perfectly too. I’m sure she would look much nicer in a Burka anyway. Knowing the majority would buy her a one-way ticket, they are a disgrace and embarrassment to our country.

I think a burka would be more fashionable for them living in another country.
