Democrats Will Promise Anything To Get Elected

It was not long ago that John Edwards, the Breck girl of the Kerry Edwards presidential ticket, claimed that if John Kerry were elected that Christopher Reeve would walk again. Perhaps Edwards’ televangelist court escapades play well to jurists but most reasonable people know this was a flat out lie. Stem cell research is nowhere near producing those kinds of results regardless of what kinds of stem cells are used. But this is typical for Democrats. They will promise anything to the public to get elected. Considering that a third of the country believes that 9/11 was an inside job, it is not hard to see how people would believe such claims.

Now, Ben Cardin of Maryland is making a similar claim. Cardin is running for the Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Paul Sarbanes. Cardin, not content being in the House has decided to run for the Senate and he has a field of about 15 people vying for the Democratic nod. The Republicans are running Michael Steele who is a better candidate and a much needed conservative in the overwhelmingly liberal state. Here is Cardin’s outrageous claim:

“We are going to lick cancer by 2015,” Cardin told a group of 15 people at the HopeWell Cancer Support Center on Falls Road.

I have no doubt that detection methods will be better and allow earlier discovery of the disease. Early discovery is key to successful treatment. However, for Cardin to give the indication that it will be licked by then is just a flat out lie. He has no knowledge of this and there is no indication that it is so. Even if it is true and we will have “licked” cancer by 2015, how in God’s name will Cardin have anything to do with it? He made the statement to give the impression that he would be responsible and that is why he should be elected. He has not yet cured cancer and he has been in the House for years so why would we expect that his appearance in the Senate would bring about such miraculous results?

Cardin is another in a long line of Democrats who will say anything to get elected. I do not know who is going to win the seat though I hope that Michael Steele does. I will say this though, if Cardin wins and I am still alive in 2015 I will be the first to point out this colossal lie.
