Democrats Tasting Their Own Medicine

Back when Republicans held a slim majority the Democrats used a number of legislative maneuvers to block what the majority wanted done. The Democrats refused to play nice and since they invoked the super majority rule when they were in the majority, they used it to their advantage. They even bargained not to have it removed when Republicans threatened to do so. Republicans, for their part, complained a lot about Democrats and labeled them as obstructive.

Now that the Democrats are in the majority the Republicans are playing the legislative games that the Democrats once played. Of course, it is the Democrat’s turn to complain about obstructive Republicans. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid discussed just this and even though I thought that Republicans could not be blamed for what happened, Pelosi found a way to do it. She pinned the blame on “the obstructionism of the Republicans in the United States Senate.” SFGate

Amazingly, Pelosi seems to have forgotten that the Democrats in the Senate played the very same cards before last November and I don’t recall her discussing the obstructive Democrats. Pelosi and Reid have pinned the blame for their failures on the Republican majority but I am not buying it. The Democrats blamed every failure on the Republican majority and told everyone that things would be different if they were in charge. With that in mind, the failures in Congress are the fault of the Democrats. We are going to go by the same rules and not let Reid and Pelosi spray BS all over the place and get away with it.

Here is another BS item that we can call out. They are touting that they passed an increase in minimum wage as they promised. The only way this was accomplished is that it was attached to the war spending bill. The minimum wage has absolutely nothing to do with the war, and neither did any of the other earmarks (PORK).

If I ran the government there would be no pork projects. If someone wanted to spend taxpayer money that person would have to introduce it as a separate legislative item and cite the Article and Section of the Constitution that allows it. If it is not in the Constitution then it may not be introduced. Congress is a run away spending machine and they continually waste our money. I pointed out that Obama has nearly $400 million in pork requests. That is only one Senator and he has requested that much money for things like mass transit and a planetarium in his home state. These items should be paid for out of state tax money. If the mass transportation is part of federal transportation stuff then it should be introduced as part of transportation legislation.

The approval rating for Congress hovers around 20%. Pelosi says that Congress has never been popular and though I do not believe it, I will take her statement at face value. Nancy, if this is true, why is it so? Congress is comprised of people who represent voters (though the Senate is not serving in its intended capacity) so why is Congress unpopular? Perhaps it is because you people campaign on doing wonderful things and fool the people at home so you can act stupid when you get to DC. Perhaps it is because you folks spend our money, and make no mistake it is our money, on things you have no business spending it on.

Maybe people are unhappy with you folks because you push legislation through by circumventing the system and by trying to be sneaky. Perhaps it is because you guys add billions of dollars to bills in order to buy votes at home. Whatever it is, it is well deserved because you are all incompetent.

America, wake up. The authority to spend our money and to raise taxes rests in the House. Those folks, all 435 of them, are up for reelection every two years. We can dramatically change the face of Congress every two years by voting all of them out. We can ensure that they do not vegetate in the hallowed halls while thinking of ways to blow our money just by voting them out. The reason they screw us is because they believe we are not bright enough to take care of them. We can do it by getting rid of all of them and starting fresh. But people have to get rid of the idea that they are all bad except my guy. They are ALL bad.

In November 2008 we can send a real clear message by getting rid of them. Our country will survive and will get just that much stronger. Take action and get involved in politics and get rid of all of them.
