Obama ran a stronger, more focused and tighter campaign, raised record amounts of money that allowed him to target more states at crunch time, and he energized a huge base of Democratic voters from coast to coast.  To write that off as skin color is a baseless insult and I don't think it can be backed up by substantial evidence.
