Democratic Vandals Get Jail Time

During the 2004 Presidential election there was ample evidence that the left was, as Michelle Malkin would put it, unhinged. They burned Bush/Cheney signs, keyed cars with Bush/Cheney stickers and they went around shooting up a bunch of Bush/Cheney campaign offices. Every day the news had a new story about the unhinged left and their violence toward the right. The party of tolerance was becoming more intolerant of the Republican party and their dismal candidate. On election day five people, including the sons of elected officials, vandalized the vans Republicans rented to get people to the polls. In fact, these items were only a small number of incidents that were in a report which concluded that by and large, the Democrats were the dirty tricks (and vandal) party. Today, four of the hoodlums involved in the election day vandalism were sentenced to jail terms.

Calling the vandalism more than harmless hijinks, Brennan admonished the four men, including the sons of two prominent Milwaukee politicians, for disenfranchising voters. The judge said he had received letters from Milwaukee County citizens upset over the crime.

“They see you tampering with something they consider sacred and that’s the ballot box,” Brennan said during a two-hour sentencing this morning.

Michael Pratt, 33, and Lewis Caldwell, 29, were each sentenced to six months in jail while Lavelle Mohammad, 36, got five months and Sowande Omokunde, 26, got four months. Each was also fined $1,000. They will be eligible for work release and were allowed to surrender to begin their sentences within two weeks.

Pratt is the son of former Acting Mayor Marvin Pratt and Omokunde is the son of U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.)

I am glad to see that these thugs were put behind bars for a little while. I hope they feel good knowing that they went to jail for a man who could not have cared any less about them. They went to jail for doing something to disenfranchise voters, a charge that the left always levies at the right. Perhaps once and for all people can see through the smoke and mirrors and realize that the left is full of people who will do anything to get into power and that their feigned concern only goes as far as election day.

Wait a minute. There was just as much vandalism from unhinged rightwingers against Democrats. Where’s the outrage against them.

Heck, I had my “support the troops” sign stolen from my car, presumably because I can’t support both the troops and the DNC at the same time.

I knew of folks who had their cars keyed and signs damaged and homes vandalized near the election just for having Kerry signs.

There was anger and violence and dirty tricks from stupid people on both sides.

I am afraid you are slightly incorrect. In the first place I did not say the donks were the only ones. Secondly, the report indicates that the Democrats engaged in MORE of this behavior.

I also did not read one story about a Kerry campaign office getting shot at or computers stolen.

The fact is, many people did stupid things. I am curious how you figured a right winger stole your troops magnet. Maybe a moonbat did not think it should be on your car….

You’re right that was an assumption on my part about who stole my magnet.

However, during the election there were indeed reports of vandalism to Democrats homes and vehicles though perhaps not to headquarters specifically. I do recall some children being involved in an arson-related crime against someone because their vehicle had a Kerry sticker on it that made it to the national news during that time — all because those children learned from their parents that Democrats are bad.

However, not to support your side, but because I like to be fair, when now Gov. Blanco ran against David Vitter for the LA Governorship, her campaigners pulled some nasty vandal tricks themselves…one of the reasons I don’t like her.

My point is that your post implies that it was the left only that was “unhinged” but during the 2004 election, it was quite clear that there were “unhinged” folks on both sides.
