Crimes and Election Coverage

So, a few notes on the day before elections in the US:

First, to follow up on Margarine Crimes, a couple other things that are crimes in the “Land of the Free” today:

Riding a horse is the equivalent of carrying a loaded gun. I am amazed that people can actually defend these things, but they still do.

Wearing a mask is a crime. If you read the article, the guy is actually charged with “wearing a mask or hood in public.” Incredible. Of course, in each of these instances, no one was harmed and no one was in danger — but that doesn’t matter to anyone. How sad.

Finally, a bit of election coverage. Across the nation, including on Drudge and other national news outlets, the news is being reported about the CBS affiliate in Anchorage that was caught preparing to make up false stories about Joe Miller and report them as news. So, what are the main newspapers reporting on in Alaska, where the election is being held?

Juneau Empire: Judges are on the ballot and Juneau’s legislators are cool.

Anchorage Daily News: US Senate Candidates are campaigning and Alaska state legislators are confused.

Fairbanks Daily News-Miner: National Republicans may be bailing on Joe Miller and TV station’s goof causes splash.

So, two of the state’s biggest cities’ newspapers are completely ignoring the fact that a news organization is preparing to lie to defeat a candidate they disagree with. The third is laughing at the idea that the news organization got caught preparing to lie.

And people wonder why the news organizations are trusted so little today.

The only surprise in my mind is that this has not been uncovered in other brothels- er, newsrooms- these people have lost ANY credibility they might have once tried to hold title to.
