Could We Have Another Crisis Please?

The Democrats “lead” by reacting to a crisis and if there is no crisis they create one. This allows them to “Never let a crisis go to waste.” This is how they are able to push things through and wage an all out assault on the American people. This is also what Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison wants. He said that they need a crisis at Christmas in order to push the Republicans in the direction the Democrats want with regard to the tax rate extension.

Ellison wants this crisis so that Republicans will be forced to react and avoid hurting people at Christmas. Keep in mind that Ellison does not care one bit about Christmas or the people who celebrate it. He is a Muslim and they do not care about Christians or their holidays.

Ellison is only concerned with bringing Socialism to this country (and of course, Sharia Law). He calls for this when he discusses how the rich should pay more and that they are getting so much money from this latest deal. This is all BS. No one is getting any more money. They are paying the exact same rates they have been for the last decade or so. No one’s taxes are going down because NO TAXES WERE CUT. In fact, the very wealthy will have a tax increase as the estate tax goes to 35%. This is a tax on people who pass on more than $5 million when they, pass on. The taxpayers get raped twice (and often more than that) by government, at least once when it is earned and then it is taxed when it is passed on. This is nothing more than the public being raped.

This is done for what purpose? It is done to give more money to the government. Keep in mind that this money is not the government’s. NONE OF IT IS. It is all our money and some of it is confiscated under threat of force by our government. It is theft made legal by government.

Ellison wants a crisis at Christmas to force Republicans to do what he and his Socialist pals in Congress want.

I have news for you Keith, keep screwing around and you guys will get a crisis that you will not like.

Cave Canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Fear is a powerful tool — and the one most relied upon by the left who cannot use logic. Sadly, logic usually loses to emotions.

    To whit, two this morning:

Being overweight, once a sign of prosperity, and once a personal choice, is now a threat to national security ( http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1210/46303.html ). That gives the Obama administration power to regulate literally everything. After all, it’s for the children.

If we don’t raise taxes by hundreds of trillions, the world will end: http://washingtonexaminer.com/local/maryland/2010/12/montgomery-braces-eyesores-safety-hazards-new-budget-cuts . After all, if the government can’t clean the bathroom, everyone will die.

What sad, sad people we have in government.

  3. Adam says:

The left cannot use logic? That’s rich.

Politics is often about appealing to baser instincts but only fools pretend this is unique to the left. On the right the GOP has perfected this approach to win elections for decades.

There comes a time in every election cycle when the GOP asks their supporters to forget about logic, reason or facts and simply be very, very afraid. What should they fear? The list is long: abortion, gay marriage, gays in the military, terrorism, immigration, taxes, deficits, you name it. The GOP whips up the rube vote and people go out in mass and vote against their best interests because they can’t let these things happen to America!

The GOP whips up the rube vote and people go out in mass and vote against their best interests because they can’t let these things happen to America!

Funny because that is exactly how the liberals got Obama elected. They preyed on the fears of the uneducated and minorities (the left’s rubes) and they voted against their best interests to save America with all that hope and change.

Now most of them are unemployed with little hope but lots of change they did not want…

And I like how you say vote against best interests. it is in my interest to vote out all incumbents and shy of that vote for people who will not try to control every aspect of my life. My best interests are the opposite of what Democrats try to force upon us.

      • Ogre says:

The “own best interests” line is the left standard: You do not know what’s best for you, only the left does. If you claim otherwise, you’re just stupid and not as smart as leftists.

In reality, it means that the left wants control, and if you support freedom, that’s against the power and control ideas of the left. Freedom and leftists cannot exist peacefully, because the left is not needed where there is freedom.

        • sw says:

The LEFT uses fear? Hahahah brought to you by the party that gave us the Patriot Act. (not the left) The party that jacked up the terror alert status every time Bush’s approval ratings went down. To say the “left” uses fear and crisis is the ultimate hypocrisy. Psychologists call it “projection.” Perhaps you think there was no crisis and the economy and jobs were just fine? And what did the horrible “left” do? Extend the Bush tax cuts! It’s very strange that we’re chastising the left for extending a right-wing policy! Borderline insane. Thanks to health care reform I personally pay 7.6% less in my hc premiums. Also I can cover my daughter who’s in college. How is that not in my interest? It’s more money in MY pocket that Republicans insisted would be better handled by corporate CEOs and shareholders. The “left” accuses righties of not voting in their best interest because it’s true time and again. But hey if you want to live in a country without all these leftie communist entitlements and socialistic big evil government protections for workers and consumers feel free to move to Somalia. Low taxes, no government regulations, guns everywhere! Republican paradise!

      • sw says:

“Funny because that is exactly how the liberals got Obama elected. They preyed on the fears of the uneducated and minorities (the left’s rubes) and they voted against their best interests to save America with all that hope and change.

Now most of them are unemployed with little hope but lots of change they did not want…”

Haha that’s why we’re loosing fewer jobs now than when Bush was president. And for the record it’s been proven over and over that those who describe themselves as ‘liberal” are on average more educated and better informed on issues than those who describe themselves as “conservative.” But that’s because universities are liberal right? The problem is Facts are liberal. Reality has a well known liberal bias.
The best economy of the last 40 years was when who was president? Say it with me…

        • Big Dog says:

Sure, unemployment was in the 5-6% range when Bush was president. You talk about the economic problems and blame them on Republicans but they started AFTER Democrats were in control of Congress.

Are you one of Darrel’s friends? You are as obnoxious so I was just wondering.

    • Blake says:

Just what do you think the liberals do come election time?
They play the race card so that Blacks will vote their way, and latinos will vote their way, and then, when the liberals are all done with the election, they forget all about them until the next election, when they need a fearful and not too intelligent base.

      • sw says:

More… again You have a lot of stuff here so there’s a lot of ground to cover…
You know I hear right wing talkers accuse the “Left” of playing the race card, but it seems the only people talking about “race” are the righties themselves! They’ve brainwashed you to immediately dismiss any just accusation of racism while calling us racist. It’s brilliant! It’s like crying “wolf” on our behalf so many times that when the wolf actually comes no one will listen. You gotta hand it to Republicans they have this propaganda stuff down! Here’s the formula: Accuse the Left of something righties do all the time. Repeat repeat repeat. Now they can be as racist as they want and if anyone calls them on it well they’re just playing the race card again! Hahah brilliant!

  4. Adam says:

Big Dog: “My best interests are the opposite of what Democrats try to force upon us.”

That’s because your interests lie outside of the interests of the majority of Americans. If you had your way you’d slash entitlements, slash pork, apply a low flat tax, link the ability to vote to taxes payed or property owned, and so on.

You’ll find a majority of Americans firmly behind the very things you oppose but which Democrats have fought for all our lives.

Ogre: “You do not know what’s best for you, only the left does.”

Thanks. I forgot that one until you brought it up. The right likes to scare voters into thinking the left is elitist and out of touch. It’s one of your side’s best weapons and it’s clear you’ve even bought into it yourself.

No, the right dupes voters into voting for politicians that support policies that benefit the wealthiest Americans and big corporations. They do it in the name of morality, for family values, for the security of the country, and all of course in the name of freedom.

I don’t know how many Bush voters I’ve met that voted for Bush because he was anti-abortion and then watched in disgust as he gave orders for the bombing, invasion, and overthrow of the governments of two separate governments.

What the voters don’t realize is that for many conservatives life begins at conception and ends at birth.

    • Big Dog says:

Right, and for the left it is OK to murder children int he womb but not put murderers to death.

I would like to see where the majority agrees with you.

I believe in limited government and the Constitution. You don’t.

How many times did Obama say we must act now for one thing or another? Yeah, no scare tactics there.

As for myths that people buy into, you and your side bought this myth that Republicans are shills for the wealthy and corporations. That is a myth and not based in reality.

But your side uses that to dupe the rubes into voting for more government handouts.

Yes, I would slash welfare. They are not entitlements because no one is entitled to them. I would retire Social Security and Medicare and get people off welfare and unemployment. The country works best when the government works for the people, and when people work for themselves.

      • Adam says:

“Right, and for the left it is OK to murder children in the womb but not put murderers to death.”

I have no problem putting murderers to death. I just don’t trust the justice system to correctly identify murderers every time so we’d prefer I play it safe and not put innocent people to death. Plus I think death is the easy way out and a lifetime in prison is a much tougher penalty.

As for murdering children it all just depends on what you define as a child, when the abortion takes place, and the health concerns involved. Somehow an enormously complex issue becomes so small and black and white to you anti-abortion zealots.

“I believe in limited government and the Constitution. You don’t.”

From your view it may seem that way. The truth is I believe in the Constitution as it is. You believe in the Constitution as you wish it was.

“I would like to see where the majority agrees with you.”

The problem is you deal with large frames about limited government, moral values, taxes and such. This is how your side works to make folks believe they should support your side. When you look on the level of the individual policy you’ll find more Americans, agree with my views than your views on the following:

        * Global warming: A real threat worth solving
        * Deficits: Less of a concern than jobs
        * Gays in the military: Let them in
        * Labor unions: Support and keep them
        * Extending unemployment benefits: Do it
        * Abortion: Strictly limited but available in some cases
        * Tax cuts: Extend them for all but the $250k+
        * Sarah Palin: Don’t support her
        * Tea Party: Don’t support it

This is not to say it’s true of everything. For instance most Americans support the death penalty, most view gun control laws more like you do, etc.

        “Yeah, no scare tactics there.”

I think my side uses fear, I just don’t think I would say only one side does it and certainly not that the left does it more. Not when we’ve seen such fear driven campaigns coming from the GOP at the highest levels of power for 40 years.

        • Ogre says:

I know you’re just going to argue, but I’m going to point out my problem with the view you list, no matter who holds them:

Global warming: A threat to my freedom, because it can only be “solved” by taking my freedom and money I earn.
Deficits & jobs: A threat to my freedom because it not only takes my earnings, but those of my children against my will.
Labor unions: A threat to my freedom because it takes away the power for me to freely negotiate my services with another person.
Extending unemployment benefits: Nice, but again, requires taking away my earning and my freedom.
Abortion: Takes away the right to life and freedom to live.
Punish the rich (tax increases for “rich”): takes away the economic freedom of people who work.

So hey, you have your opinions, but all those directly require me to do something against my will. None of my positions require you to do anything personally. That’s the difference between those who honestly support freedom and those who do not.

        • Adam says:

My list was more about which policies I support that mainstream America also supports. It’s clear your views are not mainstream at all either just like Big Dog’s are not.

By now we all understand you are against paying for or supporting any tax or policy that makes it easier for all of us to live and prosper at the expense of just a tiny bit of your freedom. A classic quality of the American right wing: Looking out for number one and thinking that is worth bragging about.

        • Blake says:

Mainstream America does NOT support “Global Warming”- it is a hoax perpetuated to curtail some of our liberties.
The public does support REAL ideas for keeping the planet clean, but we as a people have done so much already, and yet, to hear from you GW propagandists, we have the dirtiest air, water, and earth we ever have.
Bull! Hell, the Ohio river used to be flammable- I know you are too young to remember, Adam- but we have come so far, and we can go farther still, all WITHOUT govt. intervention.

      • sw says:

Nobody is pro abortion, but Republicans think it’s the job of Big Government to step in and decide what’s right for a woman. Republicans want big bad federal government to decide what we can smoke, who we can marry, and just about every aspect of our lives –unless you’re ENRON and you want to steal people’s pensions or your a hedge fund manager and want to ruin the economy or your Exxon and want to pollute without any accountability at all –then Oooh evil government should stay out of that. For the record the only time Abortions went DOWN in this country was when Clinton was president and we had 4% unemployment.

        • Big Dog says:

No, Republicans think it is a state’s issue and not a federal one in accordance with our Constitution.

I do not know who you are or where you came from but it would behoove you to refrain from using the certain words. One of which is what you used to describe a tea Party member. No more.

Abortions went down under Clinton? If that is true it might be because all the liberal women were busy emulating Lewinsky. Can’t get pregnant that way.

      • sw says:

Global warming: A threat to my freedom, because it can only be “solved” by taking my freedom and money I earn.

Really? You own an oil refinery and are emitting tons of chemicals into the atmosphere? If so then why should you expect the rest of us to pay for the externalized cost that produces? Isn’t that kind of getting a free ride from society? Seriously what freedom do you have that won’t be there if large polluters stop “FORCING” the rest of us to shoulder the entire cost of their waste? Why is that force OK, but when the government (aka US) wants them to pay for what they do to the rest of us not OK. It’s a strange sense of “freedom” you have.

      • sw says:

“I would retire Social Security and Medicare and get people off welfare and unemployment. The country works best when the government works for the people, and when people work for themselves.”

Yep that worked out great didn’t it? Seriously go check out life in any country that doesn’t have such entitlements and compare it to life in the ones that do have them. I’ll take the “do’s” thank you very much.

        • Big Dog says:

This country did fine without SS and Medicare. It has been around fewer than 100 years and we have been around more than 200. We did well before those welfare programs.

And by all means, it is all about you. Thank God your premiums went down and your daughter can be covered by you.

However, none of this is free. Someone has to pay for it so instead of coming here and acting as if you have any brains, just thank the tax payers here for subsidizing you and your daughter.

  5. Ogre says:

Again, it IS clear. I support freedom. You support force to get what you want. I demand nothing of you, you demand my labor or imprisonment.

I don’t care if you or anyone else considers me “mainstream.” I care about being free and not forcing people against their will. It’s not about “number one,” as you want to claim, instead it’s about peace and equality.

    • Adam says:

I’m starting to see why you and folks like you always feel so unrepresented in our government. You’re on the fringe. Of course you don’t have much representation. That’s a good thing for our way of life.

      • Ogre says:

Yes, because you cannot live your “way of life” without forced labor, sadly.

        • Adam says:

Forced in the same sense that you are “forced” to pay for your meal at a restaurant after you eat it. A free and orderly society comes at a price. That price is that sometimes we have to follow laws we don’t agree with and sometimes we pay taxes we don’t like to pay.

Your view that fewer taxes and regulations would somehow lead to a better, more free society is really just a fantasy for the most part. It’s like saying corporations will clean up after themselves or protect the public better if the market is allowed to work correctly. It’s never worked before but you’re always willing to give it another shot in the name of “freedom” aren’t you?

        • Blake says:

No, wait a sec- it is the libbies that want to eat at the big Kid’s table without having to pay- at least pay THEIR MONEY- they are perfectly fine with having someone else pay- Libs remind me of the guy who goes to the bathroom when the check arrives, not to return until after payment has been made.

        • sw says:

Libbies want to eat a the big kids table without paying? No actually Pubs are the kings of corporate welfare and no-bid contracts. The difference between Liberal and Conservative is this: If the government wants to hurt people –bomb them put them to death, spy on them without warrants, torture them etc.. that’s great! You trust the Govt completely and no amount of money is too much. Why did Bush add 11 new government agencies where were the tea-baggers then?
But if we want the government to HELP anyone Oh no that’s Socialism! We can’t trust the government all of a sudden! No it’s Pubs who trust the government too much and want to spend other peoples money.

          • Big Dog says:

Yeah, all those no bid contracts to Halliburton by Clinton. Yep, he did it.

There is a reason. They were the only ones who could do the job.

There are plenty of no bids by Dems as well.

      • sw says:

“That’s a good thing for our way of life.” You’re right. Unfortunately our way of life has become #37th in health care, some of the highest violent crime rates and lowest test scores among developed countries, #1 in people in prison, #1 in military spending, 2% of the people own 80% of the wealth and thousands die because of lack of access to medicine. I hate to break it to you but for most Americans, our way of life could be a whole lot better and NONE of those problems started when Obama took office.

        • Big Dog says:

And all of this with masive government involvement. Imagine how well off we would be if we were actually free.

It started long ago with people like FDR and Obama has just kept it going.

And we are better off than you think or report. If we were so bad people would not come here for medical treatment and they would not be sneaking across the border for a better life.

  6. Ogre says:

I don’t know if you refuse to understand or if you just want to argue. I strongly suspect, based on previous posts, that it is the latter. Either way, I’ll try again:

No, it is NOT anywhere near the same as your restaurant analogy. It’s not even similar. In a restaurant, I am not forced to go there. I am not forced to eat. In fact, I can walk by if I like. Once there, the people who work there are not forced to cook me food, or serve it. Instead, I VOLUNTARILY choose to enter the establishment. I view the prices. I enter into a VOLUNTARY contract with the person preparing the food — The person with the food suggests that they trade the food, voluntarily, with me for some money. When we both agree, the exchange is made, and we are both better off. If we’re not both better off, then we won’t agree to exchange, and I’ll go somewhere else. No one is forced to do anything they don’t want to.

A free society comes with a price — and that price is responsibility, not taxes. Taxes are force, period. They are not, nor can they ever be, anything else. They absolutely require violence in order to shape things into what some WANT, not what anyone desires.

If we were free, you would be allowed to do whatever you like, as long as it didn’t harm someone else. “Laws that we don’t agree with” is simply saying that YOU get to decide what others will do, against their will, and you are completely willing to use force or kill them to get your way.

It really is simple, and I’ll try again. There is nothing more to it — stop forcing me to do things. That’s all.

To claim it never worked before is to be utterly ignorant of world history. Perhaps you were thinking of your socialist utopia, which indeed has been tried over and over again and always, without exception, ends up with lots and lots of innocent dead people.

    • Adam says:

“It’s not even similar. In a restaurant, I am not forced to go there.”

The vast majority (not all though) of the laws and taxes you see as counter to freedom you would not fall under or pay for if you did not want to.

“If we were free, you would be allowed to do whatever you like, as long as it didn’t harm someone else.”

The opposite of that to you is slavery, correct? Is there a middle?

“Perhaps you were thinking of your socialist utopia…”

I’m sure your libertarian utopia would just be as wonderful as any socialist utopia has been.

      • Mr. Ogre says:

“The vast majority (not all though) of the laws and taxes you see as counter to freedom you would not fall under or pay for if you did not want to.”

Wrong. There is not a single transaction today that I can engage in voluntarily without breaking the law or owing the government money. Not one.

“I’m sure your libertarian utopia would just be as wonderful as any socialist utopia has been.”

Once again, you’re projecting. I never claimed any libertarian utopia. I never said freedom was utopia. Freedom is free, however. And freedom, despite its problems, it much better than socialism. You see, under both systems, there will be miserable people. Under freedom, some will be miserable. Under socialism, all but the elites will be. Socialist supporters, however, claim that their system will result in everyone being happy. Sadly, that has never happened (nor will it, because Socialism, and the system of government we have today in America, are based on using force at all times).

        • sw says:

Wrong. There is not a single transaction today that I can engage in voluntarily without breaking the law or owing the government money. Not one.

And what prey tell would you be transacting with if there was no government? Do you print your own money? Someone prints it for you do you expect them to do that for free? Who defends your property rights? You expect that to happen for free by magic? Talk about Libs wanting a free lunch….The only reason anyone owns property is because there’s an evil big government socialist building with a piece of paper in it that says you do. And Sorry that building and the roads that lead to it aren’t free.

      • Adam says:

“There is not a single transaction today that I can engage in voluntarily without breaking the law or owing the government money.”

You’re just not trying hard enough. I bet you could manage it if you really wanted. You’d rather just complain.

“Once again, you’re projecting. I never claimed any libertarian utopia.”

And I never claimed any socialist utopia, so I guess we’re even.

      • sw says:

Want a Socialist Utopia? Try Denmark, Sweden, Japan… Every other industrialized country… want to see a “free market utopia” Try Singapore. That’s as close as there is.

    • sw says:

Sorry with the lot of replies but there are a lot of misconceptions here you need to be at least aware that there’s another side to, even if you don’t want to understand right away. That price is responsibility? And how do you exercise that responsibility? Do you go out and build your own roads? Have your own private court system? Your own private fire departments? And no they aren’t “Force” you don’t have to pay for tabs on your car. Just don’t use OUR public roads. You don’t have to pay income tax –just don’t use OUR regulated system of commerce and all the opportunities it gives you to make money. There’s no Iron Curtain here so you can leave any time you don’t like the deal our society offers. Feel free because you are free thanks to a Bill of Rights that’s kept and enforced by a big intrusive evil socialist government!

      • Big Dog says:

No but there are more volunteer firefighters than paid ones so there is something to be said for being responsible for your community.

There are certain functions that government should be involved in and we YES WE give them the authority to do things. They have gone too far.

  7. Big Dog says:

No one dies because of a lack of access to health care. Everyone has access to health care. Where we have the difference is who pays for it. I think YOU should pay for YOUR care and I will pay for mine.

You think that the people with 80% of the wealth should pay for you.

We rank low in meaningless things that evaluate inane items like how do you feel?

We have people in such bad shape because of no health care and yet they have 2 cars, air conditioning, cell phones, big screen TVs, and all the cable channels.

Here is an idea, set your priorities and you can pay for your own. Where is it my responsibility to pay for you?
