Congressman Does A Good Thing

Representative Walt Minnick of Idaho’s 1st Congressional District did a good thing and should be recognized for it. Minnick, a Democrat, gave away some of his frequent flier miles so that the family of a Medal of Honor recipient could fly to Arlington for his burial. Vernon Baker was belatedly awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in WW II.

Baker, who belatedly received the nation’s highest military award for his role in World War II, was 90 when he died at his home near St. Maries in northern Idaho last month. KTVB

When Minnick heard that the family could not afford to get to the funeral he donated his miles.

This is a classy thing to do and the Congressman deserves much credit for helping out the family of a hero.

Yes, there should be more like HIM, instead of like Rangel and Waters.
