Congress Is Full Of Pandering Idiots

Members of both parties have been banding together to accuse oil companies of gouging at the pump. Republicans and Democrats are beating a tired drum about how the evil oil companies are taking the consumers to the cleaners. They just passed an anti gouging bill which would fine oil companies and station owners a lot of money if they were caught gouging. Of course, no one has proven that gouging is taking place and studies have shown that gouging is not taking place. But, according to Congress, Americans know gouging when they see it:

“The American people are quite fed up. … They know gouging when they see it and they’re being gouged,” said Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich.

Someone should tell Bart Stupid that he is mostly right. Americans are being gouged but not by the oil companies. Americans are being gouged by Congress in the form of TAXES, The federal government and state governments get about 6-7% (combined) more than the oil companies. The oiled companies make 8 cents a gallon and the total in taxes is about 50 cents. Why do you think suspending the taxes has been suggested? It is because that would make a bigger impact than removing the 8 cents the oil companies get.

Unfortunately Congress can not see this because, just like any other tax you pay, the government gets it but does not have to work for it. They do not do a lick of work, you do, yet they take your money. They do not obtain or refine oil but they take money from the people who do and they tax us on the product they had NOTHING to do with obtaining.

The Congress and the President of the US are pandering to the people who are crying about high prices. The fact is it is a market based process and this is how it works. It works best when the Link heads in Congress leave it alone. When they muck with things they make them worse. They are also pointing fingers at oil companies to take the focus off the fact that they are the biggest gougers in the whole process. They are pretending to care because it is an election year.

Call your representatives and tell them to vote against this BS anti-gouging bill. Tell them if they want real reform to stop taking taxes from us. Tell them if they want to debate the issue give me a call and I will be happy to give them a lesson in the process and to point out their stupidity.

If I owned an oil company I would slow down my refining process to raise the price of gas to about $5.00 a gallon and I would blame it on the politicians. I would go all out in a campaign to show how Congress interfering with things is causing the problem. I would also not give one red cent to any politician and I would tell them that if they keep screwing around my company will slow production even more. The oil companies need to start throwing their weight around and show Congress that two can play the game of hardball.

    You are so right…

You want to know who is making “massive profits” of oil? .gov is… They are charging close to $2.00 per gallon on a federal, state, local level in taxes. Oil companies get a whopping $0.10 – $0.20 per gallon.
