Clinton, A Man Of Faith?

Madeleine Albright, a nominee for Jackass of the Month (be sure to vote) said that George Bush’s faith is “over the top.” She indicated that she worked for two Presidents who were men of faith:

“I worked for two presidents who were men of faith, and they did not make their religious views part of American policy,” she said, referring to Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, both Democrats and Christians.

I will not doubt in any way shape or form that Carter is a religious man. He has done great work for people with some of his programs. He was a terrible President and now appears more like a doddering old fool, but as a human being and Christian I believe he is a good person. Clinton, on the other hand, might have been a man of faith but it was a loose faith one at best. He used (and still uses) religion when it is politically convenient, just as his wife does. When they want to appeal to the more conservative base, they are “evangelical” but their actions seldom match the rhetoric. If faith can move a mountain the Clintons could not move an anthill.

As for not making their religious views part of their policy, I will say this. Carter used his in everything he did. He was a pacifist and he used non-violent means for everything he did and that cost us credibility. The Iranians took hostages because they knew Carter lacked the will to commit violence. In regard to Clinton, perhaps if he had religious views and let them influence him he would not have had an immoral Presidency.

Mad Notbright is clearly kool-aid intoxicated.
