Charlie Daniels’ Words Of Wisdom

Both Big Dog and I visit Charlie Daniels’ web site and enjoy his posts. Today, we received the country music legend’s permission to post his words of wisdom at the Dog’s House. This selection was written a month ago, but we felt its timeless quality lent itself to more recent events.

Death Of A Nation:

America has reached a critical point in our history. We either grow up and confront the very real dangers facing us or witness the demise of life as we know it.

We have to decide if we have the stomach to go to war or if we’re going to become a nation of pushovers afraid of our own shadows and shaping our foreign policy according to the politically correct pundits and the toothless edicts of the United Nations.

While we’re worrying about the temperature in the cells of the terrorist detainees in Cuba, the crazies in Iraq are blowing themselves up, killing women, children and anybody else who happens to be around.

While we’re incensed about a terrorist wearing a pair of panties on his head the radicals in Southwest Asia decapitate their prisoners.

While we drown in the antimilitary insults of Dick Durbin and the inane ravings of Ted Kennedy there are people planning attacks on this nation.

While we are so politically correct that we cringe at the thought of insulting a Muslim, Christians are systematically persecuted and murdered in many Muslim countries.

While Aljazeera television is totally hostile to everything American, the terrorists have found a friend in our own national media.

While we stew in our own juices the world is going steadily insane around us and it seems that all we do is encourage it.

Well it’s high time for America to grow up. It’s time for the Senate of the United States to rebuke Durbin for his insults to the military.

It’s time for America to face the fact that there are people out there who will take this country apart piece by piece if they’re not stopped.

It’s time for America to realize no amount of placating or giving in or bringing the troops home or setting a date to end our presence in Iraq will stop these insane scumbags. We are in a fight to the end and there will be only one winner.

It’s time to turn the war in Iraq over to the military. They know what they’re doing, they and they alone know how to win it. It’s time to take the gloves off and ignore the media and politicians who spout off about things they know as much about as a hog knows about an airplane.

Let’s consider our recent record and its ramifications.

Korea, we left the North in tact and now face a very real nuclear threat from a demented dictator.

Vietnam, I won’t even go into that one.

The first Gulf War, we pulled out and left Saddam in power and had to go back and do it again.

Has anyone heard anything out of Kadhaffi lately? Mr. Reagan
took care of that problem and we should have learned a lesson from it.

America has always had a “Don’t tread on me” attitude, a readiness to protect ourselves against all enemies. We must continue on in that way, with vigilance, courage and faith. Or we could well experience the death of a wonderful nation.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
