Charitable Organizations

By now people have been inundated with requests for money to help the hurricane victims. It is wonderful to give but we must always be careful of unscrupulous people who will try to take advantage of our generosity. The web site Charity Navigator has some tips to keep you from being scammed and a list of 4 star rated charities. In addition, the American Red Cross is always a safe bet.

    Another great place to donate is the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmy.com). I get leary when one particular organization such as the Red Cross becomes as
    powerful as it is. Not that the Salvation Army is a mom & pop joint, but its always good to have options.
