Bomb Dropped On Bill Ayers

Terrorist and retired professor Bill Ayers was denied emeritus status by the University of Illinois after an impassioned speech by Christopher Kennedy, son of the late Robert Kennedy.

Kennedy could not bring himself to support emeritus status for Ayers because Ayers dedicated his book to, among others, Robert Kennedy’s assassin.

Kennedy was referring to a 1974 book co-authored by Ayers, “Prairie Fire,” which was dedicated to a long list of people including Robert Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan and “all political prisoners in the U.S.” Chicago Tribune

I don’t know who Christopher Kennedy supported for president in 2008 but the fact that he is a Kennedy makes it very likely he supported Barack Obama. If he did not I would be surprised especially since he held a fundraiser for Obama when he ran for the Senate.

Obama was linked to Ayers and though he and the media played the association down, the evidence is overwhelming that Ayers and Obama were closer than we were led to believe (OK, I never believed what Obama and the media said). Obama started his career in Ayers’ home and they were associated professionally.

Evidently Ayers’ love for assassins was too much for emeritus status but his association with a radical community organizing Socialist was not enough to keep Kennedy from supporting Obama.

I am glad Ayers was denied. I only wish people like Chris Kennedy could show this kind of conscience when it comes to our country.

Cave Canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

I think Ayers himself said it best about the ridiculousness of what you’re spreading again today:

The dishonesty of the narrative about Mr. Obama during the campaign went a step further with its assumption that if you can place two people in the same room at the same time, or if you can show that they held a conversation, shared a cup of coffee, took the bus downtown together or had any of a thousand other associations, then you have demonstrated that they share ideas, policies, outlook, influences and, especially, responsibility for each other’s behavior.

I’ve worked under and with many folks I have disagreed with over the years both politically and morally. Does that mean I am still tied to their views or past actions because I am “associated professionally” with those people? Of course not. You wouldn’t say so in your own life so why would it be true for Obama?

As for Ayers he’s done a lot since his early years to try and make up for the past but I doubt that even a lifetime of work for others will make up for what he was involved in. Hopefully he keeps trying though because it’s worth a shot.

adam, are you kidding me? “since his early years to try and make up for the past” come on, this is the same guy who said ”I don’t regret setting bombs.” ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”

      • Adam says:

I’m not going to defend Ayers’ actions or his views. My only point is simply that I find his work from the 1990’s on in education reform to be significant and I hope he continues it because it will take a lifetime of such work to even begin to make up for his direct and indirect actions through the Weather Underground.

          His work on educational indoctrination…

Ayers and Obama had plenty in common and they had more of an association than we were told.

The point is, if Ayers supported Obama (which he did) and Ayers supported the assassin why was the support for the assassin enough to prevent emeritus but the support for Obama not enough to go against that as well?

        • Adam says:

          “His work on educational indoctrination…”

You think everything liberals do with education is indoctrination.

“Ayers and Obama had plenty in common and they had more of an association than we were told.”

What did they have in common?

As far as association, they certainly were more associated than Obama’s “this is a guy from my neighborhood” answer would leave some to believe of course. Yet, it’s without basis to suggest that their meetings and associations leads one to at best question Obama’s judgment or worst that Obama supports Ayers’ radical past.

          “The point is…”

I don’t get your point. So Kennedy should not have (theoretically) supported Obama since Ayers supported Obama and Kennedy does not support Ayers? You’re twisting it a bit. Ayers would have to be running for President or the assassin would have to have been trying for emeritus for those comparisons to be logically connected.

Evidently Chris Kennedy did not think so…

    • Adam says:

I agree fully with Kennedy’s decision as well.

      • Big Dog says:

So his work over the years means nothing then…

Everything liberals do with education IS indoctrination. Ayers wanted RADICAL reform in Chicago public schools. (his word).

Here is something that suggests Obama was a little more involved.

        Some guy in the neighborhood

Ayers or his associates were well involved in Obama’s campaign and Ayers was MUCH more than a guy in the neighborhood.

Kennedy should have had as much concern for the influence Ayers had on Obama but that did not concern him because it was not about his dead daddy.

        • Adam says:

“Kennedy should have had as much concern for the influence Ayers had on Obama but that did not concern him because it was not about his dead daddy.”

The problem in all of this is while you can dig up “connections” between Ayers and Obama you can do nothing substantial to prove Obama was somehow influenced or controlled by Ayers or that he thinks or believes things like Ayers does.

Ayers was not involved in the campaign. If some of Ayers “associates” were then it wouldn’t be surprising since some form of overlap is highly probable given how involved in politics both Ayers and Obama have been for decades.

Bringing up Obama when it comes to Kennedy makes no sense. Obama does not support the actions of Ayers and he certainly does not condone or support the actions of the assassin of RFK. Why should Kennedy not be able to support Obama?

The only thing I can tell is that you just want to continue the faulty Obama = Ayers smear that failed your side big time in the election.

  3. Leftists desperate to defend Obama against any intensive examination of his background and true convictions must defend terrorist Ayres, and efface Jeremiah Wright from his past, and insist that his relations with Tony Rezko and Alex Giannoulias were incidental and innocent, and claim he had nothing to do with the Blagojevich maneuverings to sell his Senate seat, and argue that the Malik Shabazz who recently visited Obama at the White House wasn’t the head of the New Black Panther Party, and that all those lawbreakers and Communist sympathizers he appointed to his administration were really just like us regular, patriotic, law-abiding Americans, and…and…and…

Sorry, leftists: the mask hasn’t just “come off;” it’s been crosscut-shredded and recycled into toilet tissue. Barack Hussein Obama is going down, and the Democrat Party is going down with him.
