Biden Rewrites History

Obama and Biden opposed much of what George Bush did in Iraq and Obam told us that the surge was not going to work and would only increase sectarian violence. Of course, now that he pulls the levers, Obama employed a surge in Afghanistan. Obama did what Bush did and what he [Obama] said would fail.

Biden was on Larry king’s show and told the crypt keeper that Iraq could be one of the greatest achievements of the administration.

I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent — I’ve been there 17 times now. I go about every two months — three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It’s impressed me. I’ve been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences. LA Times

Biden is happy they are using the political process rather than guns to settle their problems? What happened to the notion that the surge would lead to more violence? The successes there are not the result of Obama magically waving his wand and sprinkling fairy dust.

It seems to me that Bush should get the lion’s share of the credit for the successes in Iraq. Obama has not implemented any tactical changes that made the outcome different.

What amazes me is that when there is a problem the first thing Obama does is blame Bush. He inherited any problem but he takes credit for the successes.

You can’t play the game that way folks. If Obama is going to blame Bush at every turn for things that started when he was in office then it is only right that Bush get the credit for the good things that have transpired from those items which started when he was in office.

Anyone who has trouble seeing this double standard has overdosed on Kool Aid.

“This” administration, not Bush’s. Obama came in to save the day.

Bush poops the bed, Obama cleans it up, as I said. You don’t expect them to spin the end of this Iraq mess in a most positive light? After campaigning on it? Of course they will.

All the success is because of Bush. I don’t expect much of them, to tell you the truth.

    • Adam says:

All of the bad press, the American and coalition lives lost, the massive civilian casualties, the increase in terrorism activity in the country, that’s all the success of Bush.

Pulling out of Iraq, limiting the presence and assistance there, allowing Iraq to stand on it’s own instead of just saying we will, that would all be the success of Obama.

      • Big Dog says:

Bad press is a consequence of being a Republican. There have been deaths and other problems since Obama took office but we don’t see them splashed on the nightly news.

All the things that took place under Bush led to the success.

For Biden to take all that credit and not mention Bush is wrong because he had a big hand in the success and strategies he put in place (that were successful) were opposed by Biden and Obama.

You say that these things took place under Obama so the success. OK, the millions of lost jobs, the high unemployment, the out of control spending are taking place under Obama. Why does he keep blaming Bush?

You can’t have it both ways.

        • Adam says:

“Why does he keep blaming Bush?”

Because it happened on Bush’s watch. The pullout in Iraq and draw down is something Obama campaigned on and will try and accomplish. It’s not a matter of both ways because you’re talking about two different things.

        • victoria says:

Adam–the Status of Forces Agreement to bring troops home was signed before Obama took office

        • Adam says:

It’s still going to happen on Obama’s watch.

  3. Big Dog says:

And pulling troops out could have bad consequences. Look at what happened when we left Vietnam. If there is a problem when he draws down (and I think we need to define victory, achieve what we define and leave) he will not be able to blame it on Bush.

When will he start blaming the trouble in Iran on Bush?

  4. Big Dog says:

It is not two different things. Some of the economic problems happened on Obama’s watch and he blames them on Bush.

He campaigned on a lot of things and when he can’t accomplish them he says he inherited a problem. Some of the stuff happened on his watch so he either needs to claim the good and the bad and quit blaming or he needs to give credit when it is due.
