Another Lie About Bill Clinton?

I was recently told in my comment section that a bunch of things about Bill Clinton were disproven including the story that he and Hillary fell asleep during the Reagan funeral. I watched that video and it looks like Bill is asleep and Hillary is trying to stay awake but, of course, if the Clintons say they were awake then who are we to question it?

The Reagan funeral might be something that can be debated but today Bill Clinton fell asleep during a church service commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King. The video leaves no doubt as Clinton falls asleep and his head drops down as he jerks back up to consciousness. You can see the story here (the story says he fell asleep at Reagan’s funeral) and you can see a video here.

I realize that this will probably be billed as some contrived story made up by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and those who worship the ground that Bill walks on will buy that however, this does not appear to be a hoax.

It is ironic that Bill claims that King’s “I Have a Dream” speech inspired him to get into public service. I guess he took the title literally.

UPDATE: For what its worth, I don’t care if Bill Clinton falls asleep or not. The point of the post was to counter a claim that the story of him falling asleep in the past was proved false or made up by the right. This post is in response to the comment, just to make it clear (for the boobs who are not able to tell). **and I don’t mean the commenter**

Just proves Bill’s a racist like you said. I guess the media didn’t want to play favorites on this one…

    Big Dog,

I want the Clintons to stay asleep. It is only when they are awake that they can do damage to America.

I am not sure he is a pure racist as much as he will use race in order to win.

There’s not so many shades of gray in racism. I don’t think either Clinton is racist though. I think most of the things the Clinton campaign has been accused of lately has been distorted by the Obama campaign but it’s really the Clinton campaign’s own fault for not being more careful in a race like this. But campaigns get nasty, and the Clinton’s hands have never been clean when it comes to running an aggressive campaign. I hope the last few weeks will teach them to tighten up the rhetoric and play it straighter because it will sink the campaign after too much more…

It is nice to see the left finally get the same ridiculous scrutiny for every little word that the right gets.

I think there are degrees. Suppose a person does not want his daughter to marry a black (or white) guy. I don’t think it necessarily makes him racist. However, one can be the farthest thing from racist and still use race in situations like this.

As for Obama, his campaign is no different than Hillary’s when they played up the picking on a girl meme. Most of the problems the Clintons had over this came from the black community.

Cheer up though, If a Republican had done this Jackson and Sharpton would be marching in the streets.

I think Sharpton and Jackson are worried about Obama winning. It would take away a lot of their prattle about equality in America…

This is such a stupid issue. Clinton is 61 years old. He’s also in the middle of a big campaign for his wife. Have you ever seen your dad fall asleep when he’s sitting in a chair? Not all that unusual is it? Why do people leaving comments make this about Clinton being racist. This sort of thing happens every day, at funerals, at church, in school, at work…. Find a more important issue to talk about.

Don’t agree with your reference regarding marriage; if the person isn’t open to getting to know the person their daughter seeks to marry, then I do see that as an act of racism.

That being said, I must agree that nit-picking at Clinton’s sleep issues and calling him racist because of them is a stretch. Some of his other actions may lead one to make such a statement, but nodding off during a long church service doesn’t merit as evidence of racism in my mind.

  10. Big Dog says:

Well call it racism if you want but if a person opposes his daughter marrying a deadbeat it does not give him a label.

No one suggested that Clinton was racist for falling asleep. The post was in response to a comment indicating that the last time he fell asleep it was proven incorrect, you know VRWC stuff.

His remarks have offended the black community. That, in and of itself, makes it racist. That is the standard that liberals set forth for conservatives for years. Now you guys have to live by it as well.

I think Adam’s comment was tongue in cheek…

I did see the Reagan funeral on TV and Bill Clinton was sleeping, and Hillary did sleep off and on. Bill Clinton DID sleep and jerk as he would wake up. I know this for a fact, I saw it with my own two eyes, plus recorded it, I knew them lefties would deny it later. I have the proof.

  13. Virginia says:

I suspect that is the first time the Clintons ever slept together in their life , at the Reagan funeral, since Chelsea belongs to Hubbell.
