America Is NOT Using Chemcial Weapons

There has been a lot of babble in the blogosphere by the left leaning blogs about the use of White Phosphorus ammunition by the United States. The left wants their kool aid drinking drones to believe the US is using WMD, chemical weapons at that. I have always maintained that any weapon that destroys a lot of stuff is a WMD but that is not how the term is used in today’s climate. The left though, is running amok with its usual campaign of disinformation. These are the same people who refuse to believe that Hussein had or used Chemical weapons (WMD) but will jump at the first chance to accuse America of this crime. This is part of the blame America first mentality that is pervasive among the moonbats.

Lets clear a few things up for the pinheads who blame America for using illegal weapons. First of all, while WP has chemicals in it is not a chemical weapon (under the definition of chemical weapons) it is an incendiary weapon. WP has been discussed at the Convention on Conventional Weapons which means that it is considered a conventional, not chemical weapon. Secondly, incendiary weapons are banned for use on populations of civilains if the primary objective was to target civilians. Protocol III of the convention states:

Article 2: Protection of civilians and civilian objects

  1. It is prohibited in all circumstances to make the civilian population as such, individual civilians or civilian objects the object of attack by incendiary weapons.
  2. It is prohibited in all circumstances to make any military objective located within a concentration of civilians the object of attack by air-delivered incendiary weapons.
  3. It is further prohibited to make any military objective located within a concentration of civilians the object of attack by means of incendiary weapons other than air-delivered incendiary weapons, except when such military objective is clearly separated from the concentration of civilians and all feasible precautions are taken with a view to limiting the incendiary effects to the military objective and to avoiding, and in any event to minimizing, incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians and damage to civilian objects.
  4. It is prohibited to make forests or other kinds of plant cover the object of attack by incendiary weapons except when such natural elements are used to cover, conceal or camouflage combatants or other military objectives, or are themselves military objectives. ICRC International Humanitarian Law

Notice that you may not deliberately target civilians and when used in areas populated by civilians every precaution must be used to limit civilian casualties. The United States gave all civilians in Fallujah ample warning to leave. If they did not leave then they would be subject to injury. This is very similar to the situation in New Orleans. People were told to leave. Those who chose not to do so were subject to injury or death. People must be accountable for their own actions. We had terrorists in a town killing and attacking our troops. We gave fair warning for people to leave and some ignored that warning.

I believe the US acted very responsibly in that they did not target civilians, they used the weapons on fighting forces (which is allowed), and they made every effort to get civilains out of the target area. The left will deride the US for these acts even though they were in accordance with the Protocol. I will point out, for the uninformed who feel we violated the Protocol, that we did not ratify this Protocol:

The United States submitted the Amended Protocol II—as well as Protocol III and Protocol IV, which have not been ratified—to the Senate for its advice and consent to ratification on January 7, 1997. The Amended Protocol II was ratified on May 24, 1999. DTIRP Information Center

States that become CCW members must sign on to at least two of the convention’s protocols, but do not have to become party to all of them. Arms Control Association

None of this information will mean anything to those so inclined to believe that America is always the bad guy. The information is readily available and if they were concerned with the truth they would have looked it up on their own. They are like the MSM, disregard the facts and put out as much disinformation as possible to saturate the mush their readers use for brains.

Are incendiary weapons nice? Of course not and in all reality neither is any other weapon designed to kill someone. The fact is we are at war, and despite the best efforts of the moonbats to discredit and derail the process, we are going to continue until we win. We are using weapons allowed under Convention Protocol and even though we are not a party to the specific Protocol we are following the rules established by it.
